Maybe China or South Korea should worry more??? Since they are neighbors, China is not worried. Nuclear weapons from North Korea do not have the capabitily to reach USA. Why so paranoia, or guilty of destruction of other Country's Governments or involvement.

It is not that the United States feels threatened by North Korea having nuclear weapons. It's a bad deal all around for the world. In theory it could have the potential to start WWIII if he ever chose to use one on Japan or South Korea. We by law must defend those countried if they are attacked. N. Korea striking Japan is not that far fetched, striking S. Korea is a little more far fetched as it wouldnt fit well with them invading an area that had nuclear weapons detonated on it. There is still a lot of resentment for what Japans military did during their occupations of those Asian countries.
China would never tolerate the US retaliating agianst N. Korea if they struck Japan and we invaded the north. It would be just like the Korean Conflict all over agian, only this time with the potential to flair up into a regional conflict instead of just in one country. How long until that flaired up into a world conflict? Also don't forget the US would then be in a postion to try and stop China from invading Taiwan to recapture what they see as a rogue state. At this time the norths weapons can not reach the US, however China's could and what would it take for them to launch agianst the US?
The leadership there has shown it will starve its own people to continue to support the elite. They have also shown they will export their technology to the highest bidder. Since each one of the power brokers in the 6 party talks have terrorists in their own back yards to deal with, it is not a good idea for the north to even be able to be in the possesion of such a thing. Russia, China, and the United States all have something to lose if the North Korean leadership were to ever decide to export those weapons.
Outside of a nuclear device being detonated on a country, there is the fall out cloud that goes with it. Does China, Russia or the US want a nuclear cloud pushed to their soil by the winds? What if a nuclear device was sold to Chechean rebels, does Russia want that fall out agian. What about Iran, does Egypt, Jordan, or the Palestinian people wants a nuclear cloud in exchange for the destruction of Israel?

Let's see may be because we never signed a formal peace treaty with North Korea but a cease fire at the end of that blood bath that we call the Korean War diplomatically a cease fire is not as good as a peace treaty, then we have to consider all the trouble they had to get those nukes, I mean letting die half the country by starvation so they can afford the cost of developing them I'm sure that they will use them if they think they have to also if you are short of cash and You are a totalitarian country where no one from the outside really knows what is going on you can sell information on how to make them or sell parts material o whole nukes to the right customer say Al- qaida, Iran Syria, Hamas, Hugo Chavez. also they have a leader as crazy as ours so bad things are coming one day there will be a mushroom cloud over a major city in USA and then America will lost it and by the time we regain our selves the world would be a very different place, look at Pearl Harbor the japs bombed America got mad and four years later Italy Japan Germany and the other axis where gone. and we don't turn on the soviets because it will have look bad after all the propaganda if thing got out of hand the end will be Empire America.

Of course there is no threat. The President and leadership know perfectly well that the miserable underground test shows that North Korea is years from having anything that could menace even South Korea where we have a great many nuclear weapons pointed at North Korea. The exercise we are being treated to is the same one that worked so well for Bush & Company before they invaded Iraq. Remember ? Weapons of Mass Destruction ? Scare the people. Frightened people may once again do the foolish thing and vote Republican.

US has a following valid reasons to panic:

1) NK has the capability to strike Alaska(a oil rich area).
2) NK has ill reputation and the nukes could find its way to terrorists. Its a poor country as well and can sell the tech for some good amount to AQ.
3) SK and NK, and NK and Japan are at loggerheads and any slight probem between these countries can take the fight to US shores(remember Pearl Harbour).
4) NK is being ruled by Kim whose brain is as small as his height, and his childish behavior can start a war in the region, which can have widespread repercussions.
5)NK is rogue state and listens to none-neither UN,nor China/Russia.But can be used by the last two countries at will against US/Jap/SK.

Because North Korea is A) not a rational player, B) unstable, and C) friendly with many people who don't like us, they don't like us, and a lot of the people we like, they don't. Certainly they don't have the technology to mount a nuclear device on a missile, but that doesn't mean we are untouchable. A missile attack would be the silliest thing anyway, as the whole world would know the missile's origin.

They are breaking a peace treaty. I think China and South Korea are MORE worried that the US due to the proximity, but the type of weapons they are testing could reach us...so we are not totally safe.

Because Kim Jong Il is a friggin mad man and North Korea needs money big time. Eventually, a terrorist organization could cough up some big time cash and get there hands on some nukes and cause some real trouble.

The biggest threat from North Korea having Nuclear bomb capabilities, aside from attacking South Korea, is the fact that they are SO POOR, they will sell them to anyone for MONEY!!!
The most feared action we have is North Korea selling them to Terrorists. We Americans aren't afraid of North Korea in itself, just that they are so desparate for cash to feed their people, and to continue their military intentions. The fact that they will sell anything to anyone, that is what poses the threat down the road. In that respect, whomever buys them, that group will have the capability to attack the U.S, Japan, Israel, Europe, Russia, Australia, Indonesia, etc. That is the threat to the world from their actions.

The USA starts at Guam, about 1,500 miles away. The 7th fleet is homeported in Yokosuka and Sasebo, Japan... about 400 and 600 miles away. About 30,000 Americans are stationed in South Korea, about 50 miles away. Finally, just who has the crazy numskull been making threats to use then against?

Because they have a vehicle or could have a vehicle that could drop that bomb in your back yard. Beside Mr Ill is not the sanest leader in the world. I would think he is a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic, a few fries short of a Happy Meal, a card or two short of a full deck, the cheese slid off his Ritz years ago. That is a good reason to be scared.
