Im in Berkeley Ca. and I am looking for someone to trim a 37" x 27" piece of granite. It is flat already and I want to build a rolling small kitchen island. Anyone know anyone that will cut it for me? That is around the Bay Area Berkeley?

Talk to a bricklayer. Your best bet would be a marble mason, if you can find one. But anyone that know how to use a diamond blade can cut it. Where you may have problems is the quality of the cut edge. Some granite is sanded or honed and buffed. How perfect of a finish do you want? You could call your local BAC union, bricklayers and allied crafts, they may be able to do it in an apprenticeship class. Good luck!

you could get a small diamond star bit and hammer how ever many holes you need along the dimensions you desire. Break the granite to that dimension. Next chisel the edge as smooth as possible.

Also - Nathanile had it right, you could use a circular saw to cut it, but make sure you run a water hose while cutting.

If you can handle a Skilsaw you can cut it yourself with a diamond blade, or you should take it to a quarry or other granite and marble store and ask them to trim it for you.

Depending on the size, you may be able to bring it to a tile co. and pay them a small fee to trim it with a wet saw. good luck!
