Well, finding exact names is going to be tricky...most intelligent biblical scholars will tell you flat out that there is no way to know for sure who wrote what. Here's what i know: The Bible is a compilation of stories, accounts, and recollections that were recorded by a variety of sources, over thousands of years. What we now know to be the Bible is divided into two parts; Old and New Testaments. The old testament is an adaptation of the Jewish torah, and bears striking similarities to similiar religious texts and tomes. For example, The story of Noah and the flood is believed to be an adaptation of a passage from The Epic of Gilgamesh, written about 3,000 years before the bible, by the sumerians.

The New Testament is a collection of Gospels handed down, supposedly, by the apostles and by prophets. These recount the life and message of Jesus Christ, culminating in the greatest end times prophecy ever recorded.

The Bible was written by men to provide the foundation of a religion. It was later adapted by the Catholic church (which many scholars will confirm) in an effort to control an already frightened populous during the dark ages. The Catholics kept the bible on what were called illuminated mansucripts, and interpreted the passages to the public. However, when the church lost power through several schisms, they forgot what they changed, and now know one knows.

To sum up, the bible was written by alot of people, from alot of different places, with alot of different beliefs.

Huge topic, try searching under New & Old Testament Canon.
Whenever you hear a Christian discuss the Bible's perfection, keep asking these questions:
Where are the physical documents that the bible is based on?
Who finally decided which documents were Holy, and which weren't? (Christians will often try and deflect you with "most of the books were commonly accepted by Date X" but keep asking for names, dates, documents and reasoning behind which books were picked, and see the giberish they come up with )
Respected scholars I am familiar with are Bruce Metzger and Bart Ehereman.

No one knows who wrote the Bible including the New Testament. The Bible was originally based on oral history and not written. The oral history was later put into written form by unknown scribes. Remember that most people were uneducated, illiterate and therefore could not read.

The most current renditions of the bible are adaptations of the King James version. I am certain that there are earlier renditions adapted to the specific cultures that produced them. However, those likely do not carry the influence in this industrial age as the King James version. In that sense I am of the theory that the bible, in it's current state, and all of it's succeeding variations is a creation of the efforts of King James.

Many storytellers. People who decided to publish it are some very smart people. To me, the Bible is a collection of stories, and a collection of rules. Rules created to guide others in good behavior. Look at the commandments.. all rules on how to behave. Regulations, since these things have happened to someone who didnt like it very much.. such as cheating. A good guide, but to believe may be to be decieved.
