I have male friends and I admit that I think 'what if' but it never goes farther than that. I'm married so I keep my vows.

I'm assuming this question is geared towards males, but in my opinion they can be platonic,. I have had several friendships that lasted for years without mention of anything sexual or romantic. These friendships were only lost because of a jealous husband. He says there is no such thing as just a friend when it comes to men and women. So tell me why he has women friends....hmmmm

NO. People who are married or engaged should not have platonic relationships. Someone always ends up getting jealous or crossing the line. And even if it's not a problem in the relationship, it looks inappropriate to others, which can cause problems in the end. I'm sure you would be disturbed to hear that your husband was having lunch with a hottie and seemed to be having a good time, even if you know that they are just friends.

I feel that men and women can be friends, although in my personal experience, a gentleman I consider a very good (now) platonic friend, the relationship in the beginning had a sexual tension about it, and we both indulged one night. The aftermath was terrible, until we talked it over, and realized our friendship was more important. Years later, I am now a happily married woman, and still am good friends with him.

Usually men always have sex on their minds no matter what, it's their nature, poor things.... and some women are that way but most platonic relationships are great until sex ruins them, and you never can have a platonic relationship with an ex....too much water under the bridge!!!!!!

Yes, why not. I have one too. We can talk anything. Im comfortable with him. I love someone and he knows it! He is happily married too. As long as you both know the limitations, your relationship can all be platonic.

men are always thinking about sexual things in the back and front of their head so it's not exactly possible unless the guy is gay or something.

From my experience it is very hard. Most affairs start out as just being friends.

I'll keep it simple and say "Yes". I think it's possible. Not as much as we'd all like, or atleast us ladies, and I don't think it's happening with as many of our friends as we all think, but I do believe it's possible. Just somewhat rare.
