Because of this, we are dedicated to other things to much. Jobs and worrying about jobs, times, dates, blah blah..has cause a mass medical epidemic.

Because everything is an instant gratification society. We have fast food, fast computers, fast cars. The cost of living goes up so much and our salaries don't go up to match it. Greed has taken over the world. In past generations, moms could stay home, take care of the home, the meals and the children. It is not financially feasible for moms to do that in this day and age with the price of everything. And let me tell you after working a full day we don't want to come home and cook and clean. We just don't have the energy for it. The good old days were great, but they are gone.

I think that life now is so stressful because so much is expected of us. Life in the 1800's was hard work, but it was simple. You brought in your crops, you did your housework, you did your church stuff, you got married and had children, end of story. Much of their time was taken up by manual labor.
We have conveniences now, such as a fridge, microwaves, stoves, fast food, washing machines, cars, electricity, etc. Our time has been freed from manual labor, so we fill that time with endless chores and errands. We complicate our lives because we're expected to. Plus, as many others have said here, we have to work endless hours to be able to afford those conveniences; however, life without them seems even worse. Ever had to spend a week with no electricity?

Because we have become materialistic or matrial worhsippers!
Islam, a path chosen by Allah (In Arabic for the God) has chosen Islam (menaing peace and obedience to the God) proved a balance growht between soul, n=mind and body on one hand and between individual, family and sciety on the other has been left and we have reduced to ouselves to the lower than animal levels as well described in the chapter title "Teen or Fig" of Quran. If we give due respect to other spheres of our life i.e. spiritual, mental, family and society and we have true and correct raltions with Our Creator and Sustainer God, then we will have easy life otherwise will not. There is a fight between sub-animal materialism (SAM) and Islam and it is not clash of civilizations as all civilizations are the same. As Quran is the only divine book protected letter by letter in its original langauge and is kept fresh by the God as promised, there is a path to hapiness and tranquilit. So get a copy of Qurna and read it unbiased and seehow your life gets easy going
