Life in some ways is easier for idiots, but only if they keep things in their life simple. An idiot who can keep their life simple often have less worries then those who are intelligent, but have complex lives. Idiots sometimes get away with things that others would not. Idiots have the scapegoat of "Being an Idiot" as tool for staying out of trouble. In addition, if everyone knows that they are idiots then people feel sorry for them. Bosses do not let them present PowerPoint's or make big decisions. Idiots are also protected by those who are around them. People feel pity on idiots and do not want others to bully, pick-on, or take advantage of them. Granted there are those who will still do those things to idiots any ways, but that is the nature of some. Finally, idiots do not even know what is going on, or do they really know what is going on, and we are the idiots?

Possibly. The saying goes that ignorance is bliss. Perhaps this pertains to an idiot. An idiot would not be holding down a high powered job and have the stress that comes with it. An idiot does not wonder about the fate of the world because it becomes to complicated. They are simple and often unaware of the bad. On the other hand, they can be treated very poorly and in an unkind manner, and are often not given a chance or opportunity for betterment, knowledge, acceptance.

After half a century of observation, in my opinion, no, it is NOT easier for an idiot. But I'm not really sure what you mean by "an idiot".... whether you mean an idiot which meets the definition by IQ or "idiot" as in those who ACT like idiots. In either case, I say life is not easy. But then again, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by an "easier" life.
I am of the belief that no one on earth really has an "easy" life but those who come the closest are those who truly live life as the Prayer of Serenity models.
In my opinion, it all boils down to perspective. And perspective is everything. Everyone's personal perspective is what counts. A few years ago I saw something I had never seen before in my life. I had a friend who had died at the age of 52. She had an honest to god smile on her face in the casket and a look of serenity that I had never seen on a corpse. I mentioned that to her daughter who was standing by the casket. She told me of how they went together to pick out her clothes that she was to wear and the joking that her mother had done about not wanting her skinny neck showing, etc. She said that her mother had told her that she had been blessed with a "good" life and was satisfied. I was about 48 at the time and could not for the life of me agree with thinking that she'd had a "good life" from what I knew about her trials and tribulations. But my perspective didn't matter... hers did.
Now, seven years later, I'm thinking the same about my life. As I reflect on my life I see that the good FAR outweighs the bad.... in MY opinion, and that's the one that counts! Paris Hilton may think my life is unbearable and Terri Schaivo (sp?) would've probably thought it was wonderful if she'd been able to think before she was euthanized. It's all a matter of perspective.

Living life without knowing what is going on around you. Living life without knowing how to figure everything out? Life easier for an idiot? Far from it. If an idiot was stranded in the desert, life would be VERY hard... If you are smart in the desert, indeed, life is hard. But it sure beats dieing.

I think it's impossible to tell. Because if you're an 'idiot' you don't know any different and can't say whether your life is easy or not. Plus, you're probably up against a great deal of simple challenges that normal people don't have to deal with.
And if you're of normal/high intelligence you have no idea what it's like to be an idiot. So the question can't really be answered.

Of course. The less you are conscious of the less you will be affected by. By having an exceptionally narrow world view, you will not be worried about things like international war, environmental calamities, the economy, politics, etc. The less you worry about, the easier life is. Voile! The life of an idiot is bliss.

I don't think life is easy for anyone. At first glance, we might think that yes life is easier for an idiot, but everyone has their own burden to carry, their own pains to deal with.

I think idiots tend to be happier because they think less about everything. Intelligent people have a much better view of exactly how screwed up everything is. This obviously leads to more worrying. A person of limited intellect doesn't think about all the world's problems.

Absolutely.....you can get away with anything. You mess up at work? "Well, what do you expect coming from that idiot Johnson?" You say something stupid at a party "Oh don't mind him, thats Bobby Johnson*whisper* hes a total idiot)"
You forget your spouses birthday"sighhhh....thats what I get for marrying an idiot"
Idiocy= freedom from responsibility for your actions!
