It depends on the type of control, but I think it can take up to a year or so for someone to get pregnant after getting off the pill. Especially, since you've been on it so long... be patient though. I know it's hard! Wait till you miss a period for a month and then take a pregnancy test bc i know how disappointing it can be!

I agree with the earlier answerer that you should test again. Sometimes you will get a false negative if you test too early, and a period that is just spotting could be not a real period at all. On the other hand, when I was trying to get pregnant, I stopped using birth control in August and got pregnant the following January (we only tried seriously for two months). Don't start worrying unless you get to at least a year of trying with no pregnancy. I still say test again, however. Maybe you are already pregnant!
Best of luck!

With both my pregnancies I was advised to wait 60-90 days befoe even trying after stopping the pill. Once I started trying, I got pregnant after 5 months the first time, and the first month the second time.
The weird period could have been implantation bleeding if you are pregnant (a test may not have detected the hormone so early), or just hormone adjustment if you are not pregnant.
I'd wait until you get your period again, then have sex 2 days before you ovulate (I'm assuming you know what day you ovulate), the day you ovulate, and 2 days after. Take it easy with the sex for the rest of the month so your husband's sperm count stays potent. Good luck!

My hubby and I had been married for 8 years and had dated for 3 years. Had been on birth control for 10 years. When we went off and tried to get pregnant, it took 2 years. Docs said it was because I had been on bc for so long, ovaries sometimes need a jumpstart. I tried clomid and 9 months later was holding our beautiful baby girl. Also, TRY not to become consumed with thoughts of not being able to get pregnant, it truly does make a difference. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU BOTH!!!!

The average is 6 months to get pregnant after being on the pill. It's a great sign that your periods are regular. Have you taken another pregnancy test? It isn't unheard of for a woman to have a light period the first month she is pregnant.

It took me and my husband about 8 months to get pregnant...I was not routinely using birth control prior to that. The more I stressed out about it -- the less it happened. When I least expected, we conceived. My daughter will be 1 year next weekend and we are expecting our 2nd this January. Good luck, relax and enjoy the "couple" time. You will be expecting in no time!

it can take up to a year to get preg, and even longer if you have been on B.C.pills, my ex and I tried for 10 years and I finally got pregnant after one cycle of clomid ( a fertility drug ), but if your cycles are normal don't worrie, have fun trying, take prenatel vit. and relax it will happen when you least expect it. Good Luck!!!!!
