Great question and an idea I've thought a lot about on my own. People who believe in a god also believe in the concept of 'predestination.' As in, if you read the Bible, then 'Revelations' tells us what will happen to use all someday; as in, 'Judgment Day.' So, if you believe in this idea, then you must believe that everyone's future has already been determined. And, if you believe that everyone's future has been predetermined, then you believe that the world will end with a World War and horrors beyond imagining.

But, if you believe what I do and that there's isn't a god and that religion is man-made, then you believe that we all can change the present and future and that we can figure out a way not continue with warfare.

No.

It is simply not possible.

Even if there was only one religion on Earth, it would eventually either a) splinter off into smaller parts that would eventually turn on each other, or b) be usurped by a random religion that might spring up among non-believers. Of course, there would probably still be people who scorn the idea of the supernatural, let alone a god, but I doubt those are the people that we would have to worry about.

Even though world peace is completely impossible (no matter what there will be someone, somewhere who disagrees with everyone and will try to rally people with his/her opinions), I think that it would be a GIANT step in the right direction if religion was to not exist.

But, sadly, I believe that such an objective is impossible, since it would just spring up again like a persistent weed. No matter what, I doubt religion can be totally eradicated, but I do hope that someday it will become less of a focus and more of a passive hobby or interest of people. That way, violence between religions could at least be diminished to a point where it wouldn't matter anymore, instead of the wars that have been waged in the past based solely upon religious beliefs and the conversion of people.

I know that there can be world peace and have people who believe in God. These people would need to let God do the killing though and these people would see God is LOVE and LOVE is peace.

It may seem a little cynical, but I think this question would have been more accurate as "Can there ever be world peace as long as there are people?"

Take religion out of the world and people will fight or argue about something else. Violence, in a sense, is a small part of human nature. Whether you're killing a bug on the kitchen floor, or conducting a crusade.

I belive God is peace. If you belive in god you are at peace. So if the whole world believed in God, what is the point of war? We would be at peace!

It is human nature to fight; a leftover from our time as primates. Everyone thinks one is better than one another, or that they're idea is right, so they fight over it. But God believes that all men and women are equal, and we should to.

So flip your question around a little. as long as people DONT believe in God, peace will never be established. God will give us peace.

The real question is “can there be world peace as long as there are people who *don’t* believe in God or in Ultimate Reality”? If Ultimate Reality is one reality and each religion can find the core teaching of the One and each person of that religion can follow it, that will bring ‘peace on earth’. There is only one reality. And that Reality is Love. When we can each follow the law of Love we will have peace. It begins not with other nations or other people, it begins with each one of us. It is not about "me, me, me". Love is the most powerful force in the universe. To a Christian, of course, God is Love.

Yes. There can be peace in the world if we all learn how to live our lives in peace. But, remember we are not perfect and we all at a certain time can give in to temptation or other things wrong in the world. It is not a perfect world. As long as you make it perfect for you; that will be a start.

There will never be world peace. As long as there are people on earth there will be conflict and disputes. I'm Christian, and I don't have a problem with anyone with different beliefs. What a person believes is thier choice, it's not my place to decide what is right and wrong. Fighting another person because of his beliefs is selfish and pathetic.

The only way to achieve world peace is to believe in God. Jesus was born to proclaim peace to the world. If you believe in His as your Saviour from sin, only then can the world have peace. The devil is the one you should blame for no peace, not God.

God is the "Giver of Peace," the real question here should be can there ever be world peace as long as there is Satan and the answer to that is no.
