my answer was the best.

anyways, back to the question. Are you afraid of going to hell because you sinned? even if you are athiest, have you ever thought: jeez, it would really suck to go to hell and get skinned/burned/eaten by demons/cooked alive over and over again for all eternity?

Doesn't that thought make you want to be a good boy or girl?

If hell exists then so must heaven. If heaven exists then so must god. I don't believe in hell for simple fact that it contradicts the idea that god is the most loving being yet he doesn't love us enough that if we wrong another then he can ship people off to a flaming inferno for all of eternity, the concept of hell of course being more of a personal punishment and not limited to fire at all. For some it could be extreme mental anguish or extreme cold.

My point is a loving mother mother would never ship a bad child off to hell so why would god? Would this mean a mother's love extends that of god's? I think once you accept the idea that there is no hell or heaven then you stop thinking about being 'good' or 'bad' and just live with a sense of peace and without fear because if you mess up somehow, it will be okay. People who are at peace don't make attempts to harm others.

Be Afraid - Be Very Afraid! HeHeHeHe! hell is a state of being that continues after death. What you do here is judged by your own understanding of how you think you should be and is compared with how you actually are. So if you think you should be a Godly person and you act like the devil - good luck in the next life. on the other hand if you think you're the devil and you actually act like a saint - you'll fair well. Some who think they are in hell here - may find that they are not so bad off in the next life and some who think they have it made might want to look again at the eternal implications of their actions.

What you are talking about is being good because of the fear of being in a horrible place for eternity which really isn't the highest of motivations for entrance into heaven. Everybody sins but the key is to gravitate more toward God out of love and further away from our failings. We have to want to do this and be willing to pay the price, and there will be a price. As Jesus related you can't serve two masters. I am reminded of the story in which a warrior describes this struggle of good and evil in his life.
"There are two wolves inside of me, struggling for dominance, a good wolf and an evil wolf."
"Which one wins" the son asked.
The warrior replied,"The one that I feed the most."
Perfect Love cast out fear.JN1 Love is the goal, not fear.

No I am not afraid of going to hell. I believe in the Lord Jesus and have accepted him through faith. That saves me from hell because he died on the cross and no where in the Bible does it tell me that if I am not good I will go to hell.

All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God

No, I'm not afraid of hell...if you are a good, kind person, then you will probably go to Heaven; God knows all and sees all, and I do not think he cares much about religion because religion is something that humans made, not God; He cares more about spirituality, kindness, and how we treat each other.

Sounds like you're going through hell just tinking about hell. That's the power that organized religion has over it's "believers".
Just try and enjoy yourself and try not to hurt anybody while you're doing it.

not at all. If there is such a place, I will go there knowing that I fully enjoyed my life, got to do everything I wanted, and have no regrets. I do not believe that people who constantly worry about sinning get to experience everything life has to offer.... yes I am atheist.
