Yes it was Kamie. The aboregenes of New Guinia (not the primitive cannibals the other ones) known for their legendary bridge building prowess, actually had some parts left over from another bridge they were masterminding and decided to toss it on a kayak and sail all the way to San Francisco to present it to the good ol' U.S. of A. in an unprecedented act of goodwill. Under the cover of darkness and a soup thick fog, our neighbors from the east snuck in the harbor constructed the bridge before dawn and hurried back to their native country giggleing like a bunch of girls at a slumber party at the thought of seeing the look on everyones face when they wake up and "BOOM" theres a national monument! In his undying gratitude Roosevelt selected their island to test the brand new atomic bomb.the end

The Golden Gate Bridge opened in l937 in San Francisco after 4 years of construction and a cost of 35 million dollars. All from the American taxpayer, I might add.
