Ok. my 12 year old sister is having sex. I've tried talking to her and to get her to stop. I
ve told her she could get pregnant or catch a STD. She told me she wants to be just like me and the same thing happened to me when I was 12. So what should i do because i don't want her to end up like me i just want her to be her own person and have her own thoughts. I already let her her know that i would be there for her no matter what and that I wouldn't tell our mother and everything she says is confidential but i just had to let someone know about this because i'm stuck. I'm 17 now and I've decided to have sex when I''m married even though I've already lost. What should i do to help her and change her thougts and think about what's she's doing.

Even though you promised your sister that you wouldn't tell your parents, you really need to. I know you don't want to feel like the bad guy and loose your sisters trust but it could be something serious that might cost her life, isn't that more important?!?
I was 14 when I lost my virginity and became a "hoe", I hated what I was and lost a lot of friends from it too. The reason I went that route in life was because I was raped and needed to feel "loved" from some guy, but none of those guys gave a crap about me, they just wanted to use me for my body and to get some. I finally told my mom and was able to seek help, I was fortunate to not catch any STD's, get pregnant, or anything. Now at 19yrs old I regret it all, but grateful that it didn't turn out worse.
Anyway I just wanted to tell my story in case it might be a similar situation with her. Your sister needs someone to talk to and that can help her. Good luck and best wishes to you guys!

Why would you promise a 12 year old CHILD that you wouldn't tell your Mother that she is having sex. She is a child and so are you. Even at 17 it is your obligation to let an adult know what is going on so maybe your sister can be spared a really messed up life. Your sister needs a real roll model and mentor, you are her sister and cannot provide that for her. TELL YOUR MOTHER OR SOMEBODY WHO IS REALLY ABLE TO TAKE ON THE RESPONSIBILITY WHAT'S GOING ON WITH YOUR SISTER RIGHT NOW!! We don't need any more pregnant 13 year old diva's and prinesses on the Maury Polvich show. Get you sister a Big Sister throught the Big Sister Big Brother Organization and she may learn that she can grow up to be a doctor, lawyer or engineer instead of another pregnant woman on public aid.

First, tell your parents. They need to get your sister some help.

Second, find some stories online about teenagers who screwed up their lives by getting pregnant so young. I'm sure there are plenty of stories out there about women who live in poverty, drop out of school, lose hope and end up miserable living off of public assistance. You can also find plenty of sites with photographs of just what an STD can do to your body. Just show her some pictures of people with syphilis and that will have an impact on her.

I've included a link to google images, just type the name of an STD in the search and you will see just exactly what an STD can do to your body.

Tell your parents. This is a serious situation. I bet your little sis is being pressured by her peers and the media into doing things she truly does not want to do. Take her to a doctor to check if shes healthy, and then send her to a therapist so she can talk out her problems. I wish you the very best.

Chances are you arent going to get her to change her thinking or to stop having sex. The important thing to do is teach her to have protected sex and who NOT to have sex with. Once a girl decides to have sex, she will continue. Just help keep her safe physically and mentally.
