I had someone tell me the other day, "you don't look like you listen to that kind of music." What kind of BS is that?

I know how you feel, I told this girl I work with that my favorite band is Tool and she was like, "really? I didn't think you'd be into that." What did she mean "into that" ?

That's total BS! I don't like labels. I would say I "look like" listen to rock and roll, which I guess is probably true, because I listen to the old, but goodies, and I listen to everything except rap music so that's what I am going for.
Good question, made me stop and think.

Well it's like a cowboy listening to rap or something. Sometimes people look at you and think you should listen to a certian kind of music. I'm in college- nursing and I have a 3 year old, my dad's a pastor and I love Rob Zombie! But I only listen to it in my car. But I've shocked a few people with that one.

I listen to almost everything, but I think people think I listen to easy listening and ballads, the only stuff that I consistently don't like.
I was playing a game of "Name that tune" with some friends of friends yesterday, which I was winning hands down when one of them said "You don't look like you listen to music". I was so pissed off I didn't even bother to ask her to clarify what the hell that meant.

People usually peg me as a
Classic Rock/Country/Reggae chick...and rightly so.
But they don't seem to get my love of
Jazz, Blues, Swing, Classical and "Easy Listening".
Must be the tie-dye and cowboy hat, huh? lol
When people come to my house for the first time
they are AMAZED at the 2500+ albums that I own.

What does the way you dress might desire to do with the form of music you like? thank you to non on the instant stereotype each and every person. just to make it easier to recognize, each and all the "bands" you named, are universal, they are not hardcore or incredibly strange to take heed to... so which you're asserting you dress in universal clothing and listening to universal music...

but i like death metal
swing
glam
punk
as well as top forty
i love the classical station
and i DO occasionally listen to tom leykis, or adam corrolla
but i probably look like i listen to shite
