I suffer of that, so I had to change my diet, there are some foods that would increase your acid reflux like coffee, or spicy foods, sodas. There are very good medicines by prescription, but some insurance wont covered it, so the next good thing are the over the counter like Prilosec and Zantac, the only problem with those are that they take almost three days to start making effect. If you change your diet you'll be fine, and if you start taking that medicine too, but if you do that and the acid reflux still discomforts you, go to your doctor he would prescribed something strong to relieve your problem. Believe me, Acid Reflux is a very common disease affecting all kind of people. Good Luck!

You could very well be having problems with GERD(Gastroesophogeal Reflux Disease) which is commonly known as "Acid Reflux". Acid Reflux happens as a result of the pyloric sphincter(And some one correct me if I'm wrong) not having enough muscle tone or losing it's muscle tone. his can be caused any any number of things. Damage to the nerves that control contraction and relaxation for example. I should clarify this for you. The pyloric sphincter is a ring of muscle located at the top of the stomach where the esophogus ends. Whenever you swallow food or drink, it relaxes to allow what was swallowed to enter the stomach. Then when it is full or you stop eatting, this muscle tightens and keeps the contents of the stomach from "Backing Up" as they are being digested. The only time the pyloric sphincter relaxes when the process of digestion is going on and when there's anything in the stomach is during vomiting. Several drugs exist to help with GERD/Acid Reflux. The most commonly prescribed are Prilosec, Nexium, and Prevacid. There are plenty of links on GERD and Acid reflux which have very informative information on things you can do to to reduce the occurance of episodes.
Also, talk to your Dr. and let him know what's going on. Hey may refer you to a Gastroenterologist who will be able to help you.
I hope this helps and that you feel better.

Yep, sounds like acid reflux disease. If it happens more than once a week or so, see your doctor.

If it is infrequent, you can take over-the-counter meds. One of the most important things you can do is not eat for 3-4 hours before you go to bed. Also, if there are foods you know cause this problem, avoid them. Avoid carbonated drinks, especially with meals.

Acid reflux feels like the beginning of puke.

Mix 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda with 1/2 cup of warm water and drink it.

Hey you should go get that checked if it has been going on for a while. Acid reflux is no joke and can lead to cancer. You can try eating some tums, but please go to the doctor if it continues. I lost an uncle because of this.He avoided the doctor and ended up with throat cancer. Im not trying to scare you ,but it is nothing to play around with.

You should ask your doctor that and then come back and tell us because now you have us curious. I dream when I over eat (I no longer have acid reflux) so it seems reasonable to think that way.

It definately sounds like acid reflux. You need to see your doctor for some tablets and a referral to a gastroenterologist for some tests. Cut down on caffiene based drinks, spicy foods, acidic fruits and vegs (oranges, lemons, tomatoes etc) and alcohol.

This sounds like acid reflux see your doctor and see if you can maybe use Nexium. The other over the counter type medicine would be an antacid. Ask the pharmacist to suggest one.
