first off, congratulations! you are a beautiful woman to stay strong and keep with your own personal values. I am sure that it is difficult with so much opposition. But remember- Just bc you are over 35 does not mean that you will have an unhealthy child... it may increase the risk... but like you said, you are healthy! Even those who are not over 35 have unhealthy children sometimes. It is the risk that all of us take!!! My last pregnancy I had some complications and I was devistated... but you know what? Having an unhealthy child is NOT the worst thing in the world... not if it is to women like you whom love their children long before they are born. Don't kill your child. Love your child, regardless of any obstacles! You are woman, you are strong. Good Luck!

you have to remember that there are older mothers who do have perfectly healthy babies. Go and talk to your doctor and you can have them run tests to make sure you are healthy and seek their opinion on the subject. If everything comes out ok i would go for it, that is your main decision right now because it is so early (and im not for abortion but things can happen). Determine your possibilities for a healthy baby first of all and go from there, it will make you feel better when you realize all the odds you have in your favor. Your healthy you dont smoke or drink. Once you have the baby it will give you all the exercise you need. It will have an older sibling. Even if you give it for adoption you will know that you gave someone the greatest love there is, the love of a child, or you if you keep the baby.

great question. I'm sure you will be a high risk patient, so they will keep a close eye on you and your baby. Lot's of tests to make sure your baby is healthy. I would do the same if I were in your situation, because I also couldn't give a baby up or kill it. So I wish you all the best! I know quite a few friends of mine who's Mom's became pregnant when they were over 40. A few of them had perfectly healthy babies. One recently however, just had a baby with down syndrome. Just try to prepare yourself for any result, and know you'll love the baby no matter what! You will be and already are a great Mom :)
I wish you the best! Congrats :)

Have that baby! I'm sure it will be hard, and yeah, there are risks. But I'm sure you'll love that baby no matter what. And even if you decide that keeping the baby isn't the right decision, you'll will have given that baby a chance at life and someone else the chance to be a parent. You obviously are a caring person, and care about that baby. Since you have an 18 year old daughter, you have the advantage of an older sibling to help out, one that is probably more reliable than a 7 year old sibling!
Good luck!!!

46 years of age is no longer considered to be "too old" to have a baby. Guaranteed you will probably lose your steam much more quickly than when you were 28, but I think as long as you trust your body's natural ability to conceive and mother a child you will provide the necessary needs for your baby. Yes, it is considered a high risk pregnancy but advancement in medicine has made it possible to track health concerns and in some cases treat these problems in utero. As for having an abnormal or unhealthy child, I am 31 and 6 months pregnant. Currently, I may be at risk (still pending) to giving birth to a child with a birth defect or Down's syndrome. God will provide you with the child that he believes you will be a strong, nuturing and loving mother to. Best of luck!

Sweety, if you are healthy and your doctor agrees with you then your baby should be fine. Remember a 58 year old woman just had a baby a few months ago and women have "change of life" babies all the time. There are some increased risks for older women having babies but your doctor will know how to counteract those. TALK TO YOU GYN/OB. He/she is the authority and can help alleviate these fears...
Congrats and Good luck

Yes, your age puts you at higher risk for birth defects/disorders. But there is NO REASON for you to not have a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby if you take good care of yourself and see a doctor who specializes in high risk pregnancies. Don't kill your baby. This baby is coming to you for a reason. You can do it. It won't be as easy as it was for you 18 years ago, but you CAN do it. Just make sure you see the right doctor and follow all of his/her orders diligently. Try to deliver in a hospital with a level 3 NICU too. Best wishes to you.

Talk to the dr about your concerns. They can do several tests to determine if you child will have any problems. Certainly don't abort just because your friends are telling you that the baby MIGHT have some problems. Lots of women have babies in thier 40's. If the baby has problems and you're not prepared to care for it, there are other people who are. Adoption is always an option. Good luck and take care!!!

Now a days people are having HEALTHY babies in their sixties!!!! DO NOT WORRY!!! Go see your OB/GYN as soon as possible so they can get you on the prenatal vitamins and let you know what else you should be doing.
Women that have babies in their forties have to undergo additional tests and more frequent monitoring, but they have normal beautiful babies all the time!!!
Enjoy your pregnancy, it's a beautiful thing. Since it's been 18 years you get to experience the miracle like it was the first all over again!!!

If you don't want an abortion... the only other choice is to have the baby... whether you keep it or give it up for adoption is totally up to you... but, just go through the pregnancy. Don't feel like you are being forced to have an abortion because of your age. Good luck and I hope your baby comes out perfectly healthy!
