I want to know whether or not you believe in a god. And I want your reasons for believing, not what the bible tells you not what a priest has told you, what YOU believe.

Yes I believe in God. No I cannot prove God exists but why should I have to? I asked myself a question long ago and found my answer within the question. I am told that no God exist because it cannot be proven, yet I am expected to believe in a Big Bang that created everything, which by the way I do think happened. The problem with his theory is basically the same as the one raised by the question, is there a God. The problem is if the Big Bang happened, where did the material that exploded in the beginning come from? Well they say it was always there, wow, to me that takes something called faith, I mean, it was always there, it just existed. This got me thinking, well if this dense mass was always/just there, Then why cannot God have always just been there? again, it takes faith. Man wrote the bible, at least put in on paper, and we all know man takes leeway in all he says does and writes, so I believe in the context of the bible, but not word for word or how pastors preach the words, but in what I feel from reading it. Just as science is what man has made it, and yes, some of it is wrong, some not proven, just no one has found the correct answers at this time, so I take from it what I see within my own mind as proven and fact. again Faith. So believe what you want, but either way you will have to use faith to carry you to your own truth.

I believe that there is no god, that religion was created by weak minded people who need a force greater than themselves in order to survive and to find the answers to the questions they cannot answer.

God is the Church's most powerful marketing tool, it is the element that will keep people faithful to the Church. God is an illusion, the Bible is a fairy tale and Jesus is simply a fraction of the imagination of the people who created him. If God was real there would be no misery in the world and there would be no war. If religion didn't exist, there would have been no genocides, no persecutions and people would be a lot smarter than they currently are.

There is a Pope at the Vatican, who is seen by many to be a leader of a nation and of a faith. The pope lives in a palace, he has servants who are his slaves and they consider it an honor to wipe his *** each time he uses the bathroom. This is plain and simply humiliating.

There are millions of people in Africa and in South America who are dieing each day of either diseases, hunger or thirst. The pope or the Church is not nearly doing anything to help these people in need, instead they tell them "make more children, do not use condoms while having sex", only so that they have more souls to convert to their religion and to forget about the reality of these attrocities.

If religion was the right thing, if the pope was trully its spiritual leader, then he would live as a simple monk, would clean his own *** and would devote his life in helping others, instead of rambling about how good god is and what religion can do for someone.

Yes there is i'm abosolutly sure of it. When i was 13 i got hit by a car the doctors said i was gonna die i had a punctured lung and several blood clots in my brain there was nothing they could do about it. Then a few moments later all of it went away and my whole body was completely healed from head to toe. The same God who created my body healed it and he'll do the same for you if you just belive that he will. Another reason is because i went to nursing school and after studying the body and how complexed it is and how mechanically it works this part relaying on that part and things we eat etc..... NOTHING MAN MADE is more unique than your body it was made by a higher power far more smarter then we are. Its also funny how people believe in the "big bang" but dont believe in God which is common sense if you take the time to think about it. Scientist says that the bumble bee should'nt be able to fly because its body is way to heavy for their wings with that being said people relay on everything having to make sense when everything doesnt. How come the water from the oceans and seas dont drip off into space espacially towards the bottom off the earth, because God set it all in place.
Please believe see you in heaven when Jesus comes back to get us .
p.s. read the bible with an open heart and you will see how much sense it makes.

This is a Question that has confounded many for as long as humans have been able to think.

Because of the frail nature of the human being, he has an inate desire to believe that there is a life after death as he cannot face his own extinction (ceasing to exist) at death. No one can say that there is or is not a God there is no test that has yet been devised to show that such a being exist.

Many have said that because of the many things that are around us it proves that God exists. This is the 'faith based' belief.

No one will know if their is a God until they cease to exist in their human body and become aware in another existance.

If Jesus Christ or Muhammad were around today they would in all likelyhood be lock up in a mental health clinic.

Religion and the belief in God was pick up by those that were the rulers in olden times because they could then say they had 'devine appointment to rule' thus cementing themselves into positions of power.

My rule of thumb is that if they say you have to believe their way then they are in all likely hood after power or control over people.

If their is a God he would never say that only those that believe a certain way will be saved and all the others are condemed to damnation. The above statement when you look at the damnation of all others, is not a statement God would make only man would say that.

Yes, there is. It's really quite simple (in that it's infinitely complex)

The proof that God exists is in life itself. But to even try and define God would be engaging in a fallacy. Here's the problem. For anything in the universe, there are living systems, and there are non-living systems. Non-living systems are systems in which everything is controlled, so that the system can be observed by an observer. The language we use to describe non-living systems is the only language we know.

When we try to use that language--the language developed to describe non-living systems--to describe a living system, we are assuming that what we are attempting to describe is discernable. Essentially speaking--that we can draw lines through it with our words, so that other people may understand it when we speak those words.

But, God is an intangible force. God is not something you can hold in your hand, and yet God is everywhere all at once. And yet nowhere to be found. Just here, just there, and always everywhere. Renewed in each moment, etc, etc.

God is the ultimate living system. And our language is built to describe non-living systems, so we cannot accurately describe God. In attempting to do so, we are forced to inject our own beliefs and moralities. In so doing, we create religion. Ones that are easy to understand and abide by. Ones which demonstrate the outer limits of God's capabilities. With the hope that the followers of the religion have an understanding of God.

bleeh, lots of words

On a clear Winter's night, look at the clear balck sky and tell me there is not a god.

Look at the complexity of just about anything: anatomy, the universe, a string of DNA, and refute intelligent design.

Look at anything that has been created by humans, and basics like things that defy natural selection because of complexity - and you will see God.

Have a child, feel an earthquake, live through a tsunami, save a life, teach the unteachable, watch a leaf fall from the tree in Autumn, and you will see God.

God (he, she, whatever) is in everything and is everywhere, and is speaking if you listen. Hindus, Jews, Native Americans, indigenous African religions, Christians, and Muslims all say the same thing. it is hard to deny.

I belive in God and here's why.

The creation of the universe The mose widley accepted theory is that of the big bang. Well what caused the big bang? No one realy knows there is a theory(a minor unproven lesser know theory but still a theory) that the big bang was caused by a separted universe where time moves in a circe. a sepreate uniserve whre time moves differatly than what we are used too that created our universe. Sound and alful lot like heaven to me. And even if is not for every event that you move back in time for eventuly you'll arrive at the first event and what caused it? God did.

And a compelely seperate note. I choose to belive for the simple fact that if there was no God or after life why even bother with this one

Just my thoughts

This question has many answers, depending upon whom you are asking and how you are defining "god."

There are numerous religious works out there offering various different gods and "truths." The "truth" of faith and god is whatever a person firmly believes. No one will believe in something they think is not true. But faith is the act of firmly believing in something that cannot be proven.

Many people believe and have faith in various forms of "god" thanks to the religion they were indoctrinated into, and this depends largely on what part of the world they were born into.

So, no one can really answer this question empirically, but only metaphysically. Many people "feel" things, and "feel" this god or that god, or this truth or that truth. Thus it is a personal experience brought on by biochemical reactions.

But if your question of god's existence is "Is there an actual invisible man floating around watching everything we do (quite perverted)," then my answer is, No, I do not believe it at all.

If there wasn't, then you would be. You made us all and are responsible for everything good and bad. You make us when you wake up in the morning. You make yourself forget before you wake up so that the things you created surprise you and life is worth living. You try to keep some things the same so that there is a story that you can follow. There is a down side however. You are also responsible for the millions of children that die every day of starvation.
Personally I think that God is everywhere and in everything. This includes you and me. I believe that if an object is set in motion, then it must have been set in motion. If I hold this to be true then who set the universe in motion to create all of us. God was the original "I". All is made of and for God and will return to him. Me and you included.

No, I do not believe that there is a God.

As for my reasoning, I'd have to say that such a being would be EXTREMELY improbable. Even ignoring the fact that trying to argue against a god's existence is similar to argue the existence of unicorns (actually, unicorns could be argued to fit someplace in evolution, so it would probably make a bit more sense to argue for unicorns than for a god), there are just so many different religions that have first held the spotlight of an era for a while, just to be knocked off of their pedestals into persecution by other upcoming religions that it makes it impossible to know.
