No, unlike what one girl said, your tongue will not "bleed like crazy" There will only be a few drops at most if a pro does the piercing. As far as pain is concerned, I can't answer that for you. It affects some people differently than others. My friend said hers was a tiny twinge of pain, but my mom said it was a constant throbbing when she got hers. The rest of it is like this:
- Never do any kind of piercing or tatting yourself, always have a professional do it
- Not just milk but also sugar, salt, spicy things, and pepper.
- Metal are the standard barbell that a piercer puts in and won't bother your teeth unless you intentionally play with it in you teeth
- You don't brush the ring itself. You brush your teeth and tongue normally, then use one of these alcohol free mouthwashes.
- And swelling is normal for the first week or two and usually only last for 2 or 3 days. It's not bad, but enough to give you a lisp if the tongue ring itself didn't. Some people however never swell.
Anything extra would be this- if you go to a professional to get your piercing done, they will give you an info packet on how to care for it. Anything I forgot here or got wrong will be right there in the packet.
Hope I've helped

There's the initial pinch and then it hurts like a b**** afterward. You do have to take very good care of it or yes, it will become infected. Also, some people swell more than others and you might have trouble talking and eating for a 2-3 days.

I pierced me tongue myself. It feels like barely a pinch. And its different for everyone afterwards. I went and started eating chinese food like an hour later. And you can get metal barbells, just make sure you have plastic balls on them. Try not to get the metal ones. Those are what cracks your teeth.

PLEASE do not do it yourself. You could give yourself an infection, serious scarring, and possibly nerve damage (imagine never talking right again..)
Find a clean professional piercer who will do it with the correct kind of needle and give you advice about taking care of it.
It will hurt and it will swell.
Damage to your teeth is not very likely, but it depends on if you develop a habit of clicking it against your teeth or not.
Good luck.

don't do it..especially don't do it yourself..your tongue will bleed like crazy, your mouth is one of the most germy places in your body, so therefore it stands to reason it could become infected.and yes it will hurt bad as the tongue has many nerves as you well know if you bite it..
