well they created the religions right after they created the gods in their image

if the earth (or universe) were uninhabited, who do you think would be practicing any religion and doing things to other people in the name of sky gawds?!

One answer indicates that the responder believes that religions have only been created SINCE various religious texts were originally written (by humans). It is amazing how willing people in a modern society are to take stories written by primitive cultures thousands of years ago as something worthy of respect and subordination. So then scribblings on cave walls by illiterate, less cognitively developed Neanderthal man should then be the "original, unaltered" religion by this reasoning. The much later Torah, et al, are thus "created"!

God created the only religion? Why would ANY omnipotent god NEED a religion? Such a being could appear to everyone all the time without need of human intermediaries. Duh.

Belief in things you can't see requires faith but religion does not? What do you think "religion" is but the dogma of faith?

And let's not play semantics. The squirrel concept mentioned earlier applies to "spirituality" just as much as it does to religion. "Spirituality" is rooted in the individual's conception of himself and the universe. Travel the world and ask 10 different New Agers and such unaffiliated with any official organized "religion" what "spirituality means, and you will get 10 different answers.

Conversely, ask them all what a pine tree is and you will likely get 10 identical or very similar answers. So which is "created" and which isn't?!

Religion and spirituality are among many diverse opiates of the masses. Whatever it takes to get you through the day I suppose, as long as you don't interfere with other people's lives.

Humans created all religions

The simple answer is yes. However, it's problematic to ascribe religion to simply an artifice of humanity. We cooperate with the data that comes to us in the senses and our reasoning to develop patters that help us attain the ends we seek, some might call it fulfillment or transcendence.

Yes, we need to believe in something, but why? There's something else there, something that urges this question. I believe this is often overlooked. I'm a Catholic, and I can say that the religion was both man made, and made by Christ. In that sense, we recieve a "deposit" of faith - revelation and philosophy, and we use our minds and resources and prayer to develop patterns to best predispose us to live the faith. So yes, we make it, but we have to work with some material to make something, and no human created clay with which we build things with.

A bit off topic, some will say "i wont follow that religion" because humans are fallible. We are, but one either accepts that the Holy Spirit can work in us despite ourselves or not. We cant be the own measure of our perfections.

Isn't that what we've done with all religion? The question is, can humans create the true unreligion and still have morality?

All the way through history humans have created religion. This is why I choose a non denominational church. I just go by the Bible. Humans have created religion by altering the Bible, the Koran, the Torah, etc.

Well with about 5000 religions that means there are either 5000 iterations of god or humans made up a few.
