Since you did not specify for what, I will give you my experience with a basketball hoop.
I am 6 feet tall and have been dunking on a ten foot hoop since I was 18. I could barely touch net when i first started. I did what needs to be done, practiced. Try ankle weights 1 or 2 lb and start jumping, use both legs and alternate back and forth. Jump straight up and jump distance. Use something and jump sideways over and over. Strengthen the fibers and tendons with sprints and tons of jumping. Measure your progress with a net or if you cant get there yet use siding on a house.

Set your toes on the edge of a bench or chair(make sure it doesn't tip) get ur balance(you can lightly place ur hand on the wall) and move ur weight up and down by standing on ur tippie toes then relaxing until ur heel goes down past the edge of the chair.This wil streghten your calfs, thus allowing you to jump higher. (repeat the motin like any other exercise, such as push ups)
or
you can jump with ankle weights
or
you can jump in the sand.

u have to work out the calf muscle like i said in ur other question....go to the gym and ask someone where a machine is to help u work out ur calves....squats are great for jumping higher as well

to get a couple of extra inches off of a jump, jump off of the opposite foot that the ball is in.
i.e. if your a right handed dribbler, jump off of your left foot.
