I will take your subject noun "we" to mean western society at large, a rather generalized and statistical subject.
We are aware. Social reformers, philatropists, ngo's, and other charitable organiztions have made as their primary focus for the past decade "awareness." They have prided themselves on "getting the message out there." They have let us know the ills of the world-so-big as clear as indirect media can. FOr that we should congradulate them. But factual awareness is not consciousness.
While we are aware of many things, our power, motive, and willingness to see through solutions in areas that need improvement is sorely lacking. LIke any democracy, the lowest common denominator of "how will it benefit me?" generally rules the day. You, the reader, may be socially conscious; but this is instituted society we speak of. In the west, freedom form religion has lended itself to the freedom of greed, and the freedom from morality. There is no quick solution, only individual heart and mind transformation.

Quite easy to check it... When something too complex suddenly seems easy, we are better aware... !
We have to work it out and try to retain the level of awareness to the maximum possible level at all times, to ensure that life happens at the highest level.

most normal people are "aware" .
they are "aware" that they have to earn a living.
they are "aware" that the have to breathe and eat.
they are "aware" that some answer to a higher authority.
they are "aware" that compromise is the key to harmony.
the key to this question is not the question of being "aware"
but by being is being and treating those around you as you would want to be treated.

I think that would be based on the perspective on each individual. My sister makes 500K a year but doesn’t believe in Jesus as if she’s Buddhist. Does it mean she is more aware than I who is less wealthy or successful in my ventures but knows the lord as my savior?

Probably, not. Certain circumstances make us aware of different things.
