There are too many "hallmark" holidays...
boss' day, administrative assts. day, grandparents day, sweetest day (which is today, by the way), etc.
I love the meaningful spiritual holidays of Christmas and Easter; and the American holidays: 4th of July and Thanksgiving.
:)

No, there should be more! In the calendar I use here in California, there are few mention of other counties holidays, and they are empty. while our holidays get written in! America has a person from every country living here, so spread the cultural ink, and write all the holidays out. Look at how big Cinco de Mayo has gotten - it's so funny, but it's huge in places! It has commercials! How American! Today is Diwali, and Eid, but it's still small (and meaningful) - wait for the shopping weekend commercials then you have Americanized it. I don't know any of the African holidays, or mention of South America either, so no there are much more needed in America. MORE!!! Madison Ave would love a shopping spree holiday every weekend I bet.

I think the number of holidays is about right but someone sure could have spread them out over the calendar a little better.

It depends. There aren't enough if it means time off from work. If you are concerned about the marketing to buy items for holidays, just ignore them. I don't get caught into the decorating or gift giving anymore.

YES, THERE IS! Everyday is some kind of a holiday.
Then the kids get out of school. make a day and say they have to go to school and stop the holidays.
