Well you just did.As a retired Sgt. Maj. from Desert Storm I feel that Bush took us into this war under false pretenses. He said Iraq Had WMD's and we later found out that they did not.Did you hear what he said when asked how he felt about the number of soldiers killed in Iraq?He replied to the effect "I don't measure success or failure in those terms. To me success will come when the Iraqi's can govern themselves" I'm para phrasing. That says to me it's not important how many men are killed as long as Bush gets what he wants.Bush said not long after 9-11 that there was no link between bin Laden and Iraq.He can't have it both ways.If he's trying to weed out terrorism , he's fighting a losing battle.Terrorism has been around since Cain & Abel. You can argue with me all you want but I've been there, done that.I was in the first Gulf War.

Sir, I am afraid that you have fallen prey to the spin that the media has pushed upon America. I have talked to many veterans returning from Iraq and their families at Camp Pendleton and do you know what they say when they come back (the soldiers)? They are astonished at the portrayal of whats going on in Iraq. Sure soldiers are dying, but what they don't get is why none of the good stuff is reported. According to them, the good far outweighs the bad. Hospitals are being built, the population of Iraq hates the insurgency, and they love what the troops are doing for them. No offense sir, but I would rather trust troops who have been there for multiple tours than a news report.

Well my Daughter is here next who is a Vet and her husband just left for Iraq yesterday and they feel that we went to the wrong place at the wrong time for the wrong thing, without regard to the actual soldiers who have to do the fighting. After all Bush's family isn't fighting over there and neither do just about all the members of government. so what do they care about it? She also said that the situation now- Bush's piss poor planning Has Gotten the Military into a situation that they shouldn't be suffering for and they are.

First, thank you for your service.

Now, here's the thing. Have you been to Iraq, and fought in OIF?
If not, then sorry, you don't know what you're talking about.
What I hear from soldiers who have been there (and those who are there now!) is quite different from what you're saying (for the most part.).
And of course casualties aren't a measure of success. Were that so, we would have lost WWII. Nearly one million soldiers died in that.

As an ex-military man, you'll know, surely, that active US service personnel are prohibited from making public statements criticising politics, or their commander-in-chief.
Most of them have to wait until they retire and write a book :-)

The only ones I hear are on CNN. The 3 that I know personally, one of which has served 2 tours hasn't said anything of the sort.

Thank you for serving our country.
