Why do women do mostly everything they do to themselves? Because of men!! Women are willing to put their future health and appearance on the line to snag a guy. Which is probably why they develop a wandering eye after his woman is all snarled up from the suntanning, high heels, plastic surgery, hip huggary things she's done.
We need to stop giving in to every little fashion "trend" just because it will look good NOW, and value ourselves and our well being for later in life.

For those of us who were born with a foot deformation, high heels are more comfortable. Sneakers and "sensible shoes" cause me pain. Other than that, it's for the same reason that we wear brassieres, which bind our flesh into an unnatural position. The same reason everyone (not just women) wears jeans instead of sweats, even though sweats are more comfortable and less constrictive. The same reason men wear ties, and have a silk noose around their necks all day. Social expectations.

ok, i wear heels, but 5 inch heels make people look like prostitutes. 2-3 inch heels are really cute AND comfortable, and they still make your legs look pretty good. and BTW, girls that care about how they look instead of being dumpy get the right kind of attention- they are NOT stupid. If you have a problem with heels.... you're probably jealous because you can't walk in them.... there are always cute flats that you can wear. There is a perfect shoe for everyone.

Like a lot of others said, some people are insecure about their height, and many women feel sexy in them because it makes legs look longer and sexier, especially if you have shapely (read: not skinny) calves!
I like high heels sometimes, if I'm dressing up, but if i want comfort for everyday I get fashionable flats. I refuse to suffer all day!!

Not to mention the posture! I rarely wear high heels, I much prefer pumps. They still look feminine/sexy but are much more comfortable and easy on the feet. Take care!

A couple reasons may be that they want to look attractive, or to look taller. High-heels often help with slouchy posture. When you are standing on your toes, you often feel like you are going to fall over, so you stand up straight. Also, it helps with bloating, since it flexes the muscle in your stomache and flattens it.

Some women figure it this way; appearance over comfort anyday. To me, appearance > comfort = stupidity.

I figure it out this way; if it's comfortable, who cares what others think. It's what I wanna wear.

I hate heels because they're bad on my feet and I can barely walk in them. It's like wearing stilts.

I wear them occasionally. Sometimes the outfit just calls for heels. Flats are ok, but are NOT suitable for every occasion.

we wear them because they make us feel confident, sexy, and beautiful, and guys don't seem to mind them either. we are aware of the way they affect our legs and feet, but unfortunately--as with many things these days--we would rather satisfy our wants now and not worry about later.

They think it makes them look good. Girls... GO FOR COMFORT!!! You shouldn't have to dress a certain way to get attention, after all. Seems to be a common saying that you want guys to want you for who you are and not what you look like. (And when girls wear highheels, it probably makes thier legs stronger...)
