The only thing that would effect Pluto's status for astrologers would be if it got blown up by an asteroid or something. If it's still in the sky, in the same place, and following the same orbit, its effect won't change. Centuries ago, planets were differeintiated from other stars only because of the erratic way they moved in the sky. As far as the Ancients were concerned, anything but the Sun and the Moon were ALL stars. We know better now, but they still have the same significance. What kind of celestial body something is is irrelevant in astrology. Only its movement has any effect.

If you pick up a book off a table you put more stress on the earth than Mars does. Plain physics.
If Pluto did anything before it's discovery nobody in astrology noticed, astronomers discovered it anyway. Besides there are moons of the outer planets that are larger than Pluto (and our moon). None of them are mentioned so have no influence. Why not? Does't size matter? Do the large planets cancel out their power?
Add on: The ancients noticed the movement of the planets against the stars field that were predictable. Also that they waxed and waned like the moon. Stars don't move in orbits. Astronomy came out of astrology and is a science.

Nobody's really "removing" Pluto as a planet in astrology. They're just going to kind of leave it as it is. It has more of a generation effect anyway, since the planet moves so slowly and only changes signs every ...I can't quite remember but I know it's a long time...years. I read somewhere that it's just going to stay the same, and that the house placement has more effect than what sign Pluto's in.

First thing to know, don't go by definitions. Astrology is not a definition based idea, like law, mathmatics, or logic.
In astrology, they use "celestial bodies." They don't classify things like sun, stars, astroids, or planets. They use the position of all those "pretty bright lights" you see up in the sky.
The only thing that would make a difference if one of those lights in the sky that we thought was a star was actually an alien spaceship, then we would have problems.

I respect the other answers regarding Pluto and while you didn't ask about Pluto's energy it seems that there is a lot of discussion on it. Yes, its energy is about the The tension built up by the masses/lower energies gone amok by governments, fanatics, etc. gone out of control . Pluto is a higher vibration of the planet Mars. Pluto's energy is about rising up to the challenges of transformation. Think of Kiva or of the Phoenix rising from the ashes.

Before you would remove it
Wouldn't you want to know all about the effects of Pluto ?????
Pluto: Planet of Power
As the outermost Planet in our solar system, Pluto is also the farthest from the Sun. It has only recently been discovered, having come to light (albeit a dim one) in 1930. Pluto's energy may be subtle, but its results will hit you like a ton of bricks. This Planet is about transformation, regeneration and rebirth. Things aren't pretty with Pluto, but they do get done. Pluto says 'out with the old and in with the new,' and we'd better be ready for it. If we're not, this Planet will simply have us wallow in our misery. Pluto asks us to transcend that which we know, redeem ourselves in the process, and come out stronger as a result. For all that Pluto (re)creates (it also governs the reproductive system), it loves to destroy. This Planet rules destruction, death, obsession, kidnapping, coercion, viruses and waste. That's definitely not pretty. Pluto also governs crime and the underworld, along with many forms of subversive activity (terrorism, dictatorships). This Planet is about all that is secret and undercover, that which is hidden from view. Is this the story of good vs. evil? Yes.
No one will deny Pluto's power (it rules atomic power, too) and intensity. This Planet's energy is often focused on the masses and what the collective will do. Pluto beseeches the masses to look inward (and to their subconscious) to see what's there. It may be scary, but Pluto doesn't care. This Planet knows how to push buttons. It takes Pluto approximately 248 years to complete its orbit around the Zodiac. Due to the eccentricity of its orbit, it takes this Planet between 12 and 31 years to pass through a Sign. It rules Scorpio and the Eighth House. Pluto is the last of the transcendental Planets and is the higher octave of Mars.

Pluto isn't in a constellation, isn't visible to the naked eye, so it has not affect on astrology at all.
Finding Pluto in 1930 didn't affect astrology. Bumping it down to a minor status in 2006 isn't going to affect astrology or crack a single crystal ball.

Just because they say it is not a planet it still meats all the marks to be a planet and they are calling it a mini "planet".
A planet is a planet no matter the size, Big or mini. So I don't think it will make any difference.

I don't care what those eggheads say...Pluto is a planet.
Of course I love the new saying that came from it... "Drop it like it's Pluto!"
I don't think it will have any effect on Astrology... it is kind of obvious that astrologists never really cared much about what scientists had to say anyways.
