Just want to know peoples thoughts on these movies...Me personally I think LOTR is way better.....Better script, actors, etc...

Lord of the Rings, hands down.
Star Wars 1, 2, and 3 are only in the running for the WORST movie trilogy of all time.
While Star Wars 4, 5, and 6 are modern classics, cultural icons, and wonderful important movies, I am finding them dated after 30 years. I think this is inevitable with a space movie. The movie will always be set in what ever the current view of the future is.
I don't think the LotR movies will ever date themselves this way, being completely fantastic. Had the filmmakers taken the route that the cartoon did, selecting historical stereotypes for each character, the movies would not have been nearly so enjoyable, and they would not hold up to the ravages of time. But I think the filmmakers did an incredible job with these films. They will be classics.

If LOTR is still just as huge in 20 years then it has a chance of this being a fair comparison. Star Wars would still be a huge hit even if the "second" trilogy never happened... (purists like me think that it shouldn't have anyway)
There are two companies that were created for the production of Star Wars: A New Hope... Industrial Light and Magic the worlds premiere special effects company and THX the worlds best sound company....
LOTR was good but it had no lasting impact on the industry, Star Wars did

Wow...great, tough question! But, since you asked which is the best MOVIE trilogy, I'd have to go with Star Wars (the original trilogy). Don't get me wrong, LOTR is a classic series, too. But SW, I think, pretty much started it all. (I know the LOTR books were written before SW, but I'm talking strictly as a movie trilogy.)

Whao, totally tough question. I love both of them much. But I'm more into Lord of the Rings. The adventures of middle earth seem more interesting then the ones in outer space. They have a better feel to them; it's not as hard as the Star Wars movies. Don't get me wrong Star Wars is way cool, but I like Lord of the Rings better.

I think I'd have to pick The Lord of the Rings. I love Stars Wars (at least the original 3) too, but the LOTR......WOW!

I have to say in that I have never seen better footage of ships in outer space than in Star Wars. It was so crisp and realistic.
Lord of the Rings was done with a lot more computerization, but still...
I guess I really can't say which one is the better trilogy. I think I lean a tad more towards Star Wars.

For me, it's Lord of the Rings. Besides being well cast, well acted & well made, I really identify with some of the characters. I've also read the book series, so I knew the story ahead of time.
Star Wars is a close 2nd. Even if Episodes I-III are inferior in some ways to IV-VI, I think it's still a well-crafted story.

Can't compare the two...both completely different genres...but Star Wars is what I watch because LOTR is way too long!
