NYC has lots of famous libraries. The NY Public Library has a number of branches. The most famous one is located at 5th and 42nd street. This is the building with the statue of lions out front (and was used in the movie THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW.

There are also large libraries on the campuses of NYU and Columbia University.

The other library in NYC that might interest you is The Morgan Library. It was the private library of JP Morgan, and contains many important books -- including a copy of the Guttenberg Bible. It is located at 225 Madison Avenue. It also plays an important role in a movie (RAGTIME).
