a cupcake without frosting is still deliciously sweet. I'd rather have a frostingless cupcake than a muffin. Also, sometimes the frosting takes away from the cake underneath.

very good question. muffins are generally more dense than cakes and not as sweet. there are some muffins that have icing or frosting on them, but they are still muffins, so to answer your question, a cupcake without frosting is not a muffin, it is just a bad cupcake.

Not really. A muffin is much more denser than a cupcake. Also, a muffin is not a bread. Bread is much more crispy and has a much different taste (as in a lot less sweet). A cupcake however, is light and fluffy and is usually sweeter then a muffin.
