Move to Austin, Texas.
There is a LOT of money here and the entire city is VERY casual. There are several big gyms here and they _do_ allow you to wear a mohawk if that's your thing... just so long as you do your job well.
I swear, this place really is M.L. King's dream. People are judged by the content of their character, not how they look.

continue to work hard, since you like your job, and make your boss love you. After some time maybe after a week or two, suggest your dress code idea. If it doesn't work out, you'll have to sacrifice your clothing. It's not that big of a deal. It's not like you work 24 hours a day and you can never wear anything but that forever. Right? At least I hope not, lol.

Suck it up and get used to it. It is part of being an adult. Who cares how you dress at work? Dress anyway you want when you aren't there...in fact go a little more extreme. That's what I do. Work isn't about who you are, it's about earning money.
I'm not trying to be mean... I understand how you feel but honestly stay with a job you like or that makes you money to buy the things that you like. It's a means to an end.

either put up with it or go find a new job. or you could ask nicely about a day or two that the dress code could be altered.

Ask your co-workers how they feel about the situation, and then voice your opinion to your sup./boss and hopefully you'll have some support behind you.
