Circumcision is NOT necessary and more and more parents are opting NOT to circumcize their sons at birth. Circumcision became a regular practice because of religious beliefs. Ask any guy who still has his foreskin and most will tell you they are glad they were not "cut". I wish I had my foreskin. I'll never forgive my parent's for deforming me without my consent.

I don't think circumcision for an adult or child, male or female is a good idea. But if you're an adult, at least you have a CHOICE in the matter and the doctor will give you pain medicine.
I've been told and I've read that not only will you lose sexual sensitivity with a circumcision (you loose lots of skin with thousands of nerves) but that it's also very painful.
I don't think it's cleaner, especially if you live in a place with adequate water for bathing.
As far as health/sexually transmitted diseases, no I don't think it's healthier. The only way to truly protect yourself sexually is through condoms or abstinence. They've done some preliminary studies in Africa that say adult circumcision may be helpful in spreading HIV/AIDS, but the studies are inconclusive. Plus, the disease is rampant over there. In the US, the majority of US males are circumcised, yet the US has a very high rate of HIV, especially when compared to places like Europe where most men are UNcircumcised and still have a lower rate of HIV.
I'm not sure if that really answers your question. But I wouldn't have it done for an adult or a baby. Too many risks, not enough benefits.

The American Medical Association and the American Association of Paediatrics both agree - routine circumcision is unnecessary. The only medical indicator is for children under 1 year old, where there is a slight decrease in urinary tract infections if the child is circumcised. The difference is small enough that the medical assocations state that this risk in itself is insufficient to recommend circumcision.
The transmission of STDs in adults is not impacted by circumcision - the rates are the same for both cut and uncut men. One Australian researcher has found that men who are circumcised have a slightly lower risk of HIV infection when studying men having unprotected sex with HIV infected partners. The difference was small, and since all men should use condoms to prevent HIV infection in any case, this is also not a good reason for circumcision.
Adults who are circumcised note a general decrease in sensitivity. Some report that after circumcision, they are no longer able to climax during sex, and have to finish off by hand. The reason is the loss of thousands of nerve endings from the foreskin. While men who have never had a foreskin don't miss it, men who had one and were circumcised generally report a lower level of satisfaction with their sex lives.
Another problem is once the head of the penis is permanently exposed, it develops a layer of protective keratin. This is a type of skin cell with no nerve endings; so once again, this reduces sensitivity.
My advice would be - unless you have a severe defect where circumcision is the only option, or unless your religion requires it, do not get circumcised.

I agree with you completely! Either make them both legal, or both illegal. It would be very interesting in seeing how something like that were to go through the court system. I don't have an issue with adult males being circumcised at their own will; we pierce, tattoo, pickle our bodies all the time- why should this be different? As long as my premiums for universal healthcare don't pay for it, I couldn't care less. It's with infants i have a problem with. It's his damn body! The "looks better", "matches the father", "easier to clean" "safer from STDs" is all crap: Looks better: Like you said, that's subject to opinion. Matches the father: OH GREAT! The father was beaten with a belt as a child too! Wanna have your son re-live THAT pain too? Easier to clean: Bugger off. Get off you lazy a$$ and clean your kid! And teach him good hygiene when he's old enough. It wasn't hard for me to grasp. Safer: If there is apparently no undisputed scientific fact out there that proves I didn't choose to be gay, I refuse to believe that there's undisputed scientific proof that says that cut men are more resilient to STDs. Now on to religion: My best friend is jewish and is quite proud of his cut penis. In fact it's sometimes part of his opening line when he meet's someone new. My friend has always been sensitive about his religion (even though he's reform and basically non-practicing) to the point where if you don't agree with any certain part of his religion, he gets defensive. I used to say that it was fine to do it for religious reasons, but then I thought... wait. There are other religions and cultures that require female circumcisions- those cultures exist here in Canada and the US, yet FGM is illegal. So what's with the double standard? Don't compare the severity; they're both barbaric unnecessary operations- WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE? The same friend's girlfriend plans on having her kids cut. Why? "It's cleaner. Oh he won't remember it." This girl is a HUGE hypocrite. Why? She's pro-life to the highest degree- to almost the level of Palin's pro-life stance. Ok.. Child's rights, bla bla bla... Now what about when the child is born? Where are his rights then? With all due respect to everyone who practices a faith of some kind, I say to hell with religious, traditional, or cultural reasons. Outlaw infant circumcision for BOTH genders or make both legal.

Nowadays it's done purely as a stylistic choice, just like whether to put cuffs on pants or no cuffs. It's also done mostly to please women in society, as men believe that women prefer this to look at & fondle, (and they do) and so boys are cut at birth to make them more attractive to future girlfriends and consorts. It's a fashion trend which became dominant.
Yes it does make the penis look more sleek, neater & well-defined, more like a tool which can do some damage. It does eliminate the smell of smegma & urine under the foreskin. It emphasize the glans which takes on a rounder, fuller, mushroom shape in cut men. It's what you would call a sexual artifact. It gives a guy's prick the appearance , sort of like a toilet plunger in reverse.
It's not needed for health. Washing daily will do just as well. but guys urinate through their wrinkled foreskins all the time - they're too lazy to pull back the foreskin before urinating. So urine smell & residue accumulate on the glans & foreskin. And smegma.
during sex, a man with a cut penis has a high ridge , or corona where the glans meets the shaft. This ridge tickles or stimulates the vagina during sex. This is similar to some condoms which come "ribbed for her pleasure". The concept is the same. and a round glans with a flared ridge will please most women when they feel it.
It should be always voluntary, left to the grown adult to decide, not forced on helpless infants. but it's a very hot, sexy custom anyway.

Circumcision is an effective aid in minimizing risk for sexual disease - in developing countries, where other means of avoiding STI's are not avaliable!
As it is now, there is NO reason to be circumcised in western society. Condoms are FAR more effective a barrier, and going for STI checkups and treatments are readily available and easy to access. As far as health, men can accumulate smegma under the foreskin- however, by pulling back the foreskin and cleaning the area in the shower at least twice a week, it will never be a problem.
Circumcision removes roughly 3" by 2" of skin from the penis. This skin is almost as sensitive as the tip, and the biological equivalent to a woman's inner labia lips. It protects the head from constant rubbing against the inside of the pants, and if it is removed, all the stimulation from rough cotton/fabric undergarments can lead the nerves on the tip to become less sensitive, reducing sexual pleasure. In addition, the foreskin sliding over the glans during sex provides additional lubrication and stimulation, and makes everything more pleasurable for the woman.
Once upon a time, it did make sense to cirucumcise little boys- picking sand out of a foreskin every night was uncomfortable, bathing was only accessable every few weeks, and there were no barriers to STI. However, none of these are issues any more in our society, and there is NO reason to continue mutilating our baby boys by CUTTING OFF a peice of their penis!

DON'T DO IT! Once it's gone, you will never again be complete.
It is a barbaric, anti-sexual ritual of mutilation that was supposed to keep boys from masturbating. It didn't work, but various other reasons were invented to justify it, most having to do with hygiene and disease prevention. They are all myths. The only benefit is to the doctor's bank account.
Sex is better for the uncut man and MUCH better for his partner!
Circumcision is painful, sexually harmful, and utterly unnecessary. (Even the rare medical conditions which used to be used to justify mutilation can now be treated in less painful and disfiguring ways.)
I am grateful to my husband's parents for leaving him WHOLE.

The ritualistic daily circumcision of babies in the US is just another way that the medical proffesion has spun out of control. Most of the time the parents are either not told or misinforrmed about the need for the procedure. It is a money thing for the surgens and hospital.
Unless there is a medical necessity for the procedure, dont do it.
It is a barbaric mutalation and the open wound from the unessesary surgery exposes the penis to a variety of other problems. One of them is a staff infections and they can be fatal.

You may regret it if you don't circumcise him. I won't go into huge detail, but circumcision does have have health benefits and enhances cleanliness. I had my sons circumcised after my youngest brother had tons of problems with his foreskin and needed to be circumcised!
It is much easier on a baby and its a good preventative step to future problems!
Here is an excellent link that highlights the benefits in preventing aids by circumcision:

It is just a religion's matter. It is because if u r not circumcision,u just need to work a little more by just pulling back the foreshin n wash the tip of it.while those who r circumcision doesn't need to really care about it because they could just wash it without pulling back the foreshin of it as they already been cut away.So my final word for you is that if u r a lazy guy go for a circumcision if not you just need to pull it back n wash it. haha.

It's HORRID it doesn't decrease chance for disease in fact it raises chances of getting one because the smegma is gone which kills bacterias also takes ALLOT of sensitivity away from the penis the skin they remove contains nerve endings equal to 5 finger tips (30,000) and in some cases like my friends caused his penis to lose feeling period there is no real good reason to have it done washing though some people say whats the big deal just pull it back I used to think that to but the head can be so sensitive that water hitting it hurts which is what I think they mean when they say washings harder but Id still rather be uncut :( there is I think 1 thing that some people who are uncut can get at an older age and I don't think its that common anyways well I could go on ALLOT more but ya I'm lazy it is mainly a religious matter though people SAY its a health matter but its not to any actual educated person on the topic well ya hope I helped!
