First to quit holds the desire to want to quit, not just the thought that it is harmful and unhealthy. I am a smoker actually trying to quit and imagine the most favorite thing you consume on a daily basis. Or if you drink a certain soda everyday. Then take that out of your diet, whether it's healthy or not. It is hard to give up that food or drink, especially if your satisfied after consuming it. You may not be satisfied psychologically but your body feels satisfied. I think nicotine addiction is one of the worst addictions to have to overcome because it is so readily available to everyone. I can be fine or go hours without a cigarette but once I start feeling stressed is when I crave it. It is VERY hard to find a substitute that can subside the urge.

If it makes you feel any less stressed, miners have this problem, as do many careers. to include welders, tire manufacturers, on and on.. Why cigarettes were picked on was primarily because of the monstrous financial gains it made for attorneys... multi million dollars. It caught on pretty well too.. In our state we now have a cigarette tax increase that allowed the tax to be greater than the cost of the cigarette.
In my case, the carton cost $13.85... the tax was $14.00/ctn.

People have difficulty quitting smoking because it is highly addictive. Nicotine addition is as real and any other drug addiction. As for your aunt and uncle, no one should smoke indoors where children and other people will breathe second-hand smoke.
