your work? I am always like screw it. If something doesn't get done, I don't worry about it. One person can only do so much work.

Well I am my own Boss...however if you need to stay later than your scheduled work day...just smile and say "ok I don't mind time and a half ":)
When it hits the pocketbook of your Boss he/she might change their tune a bit :)

It would depend on how much effort was put into the task. If the person didn't try, by all means, stay later. If there was nothing that could be done, the boss is an anal-retentive jerk.

I get paid by the hour---overtime is extra money.
if you are always like screw it---then you are probably ALWAYS like screw it and that is why your work is not complete.
if you don't want to stay late do your work and get it done. don't F*CK off all day.

If ti was more wot=rk than what I had been scheduled, I have no problem with it as long as I get paid for it. If it was work I should have had time to completed, he has every right to ask me to stay.

that would depend on if i was on a salary or not, or if i had a deadline. or maybe even how much i cared about the line of work that i was in. the job that i do now, for example, i leave a lot of stuff unfinished

You should definately stay until the job that was assigned to you is finished or you should be fired. Where is your work ethic? Have pride man!

If it didn't inconvenience me and if I was getting paid for the overtime, it wouldn't worry me. And of course, if I enjoyed my job, then it'd be okay too.

Agree. Also labor laws in most cases require that you be paid for overtime.
