Your right because it doesn't make any sence if your ancestors are Japanese but then they married a Fillipino women that makes him half and half unless he has another ethnicity.

You are wrong, and he is probably wrong also. Unless his ancestor was his father or mother, and married a phillipino, he could not be half and half. If it was a grandparent, he would be 1/4, if it was a great grandparent, 1/16 and so on. Not sure where he'd get 2% at.

It depends on how great the ancestor was and how far back the marriage was. Too hard to tell with the info provided. But I would say he should know his own ancestry. And 2%? What kind of a percentage is that to claim? Very odd.

Is this a friendship or a math contest? By the way, his great ancestor means his grandfather, or his great great grand father, or what? The percents will differ. What is more important to you--being right or keeping a good friendship? Only you know the answer to this question.

Actually you're both right because his ancestor moved from Japan and that person's wife was Phillipino not him so that would make him half and half

a great ancestor only contributes a quarter of your genetic material, since there are 4 great ancestors, your parents parents. he's a quarter from that ancestor, you didn't include the ethnicity of the other parent.

seeing as you have no email, I have to say this. You really need to clean up your attitude, I am Canadian and I cannot stand Bush period, he has lied to you about everything. I do however support the troops american and Canadian because they have no choice but to be there. You are very ignorant. I may not like your president but i would never ever say dishonorable word about any of the soldiers over there. how dare you.
