Because pop culture idolizes the Abercrombie-model guy and a lot of gay guys tend to be attracted to that. You're not alone, though. If there weren't people attracted to hairy men, then everyone would be shaving.

J.D. , not all gays are like this, but yes, I have heard some express their dislike of what attracts one man to another. I think a lot of that has to do with maturity; as we grow older and mature we generally figure out our likes and dislikes are not always the same as everyone elses. Some men (gay, bi, or straight) don't seem to sense that in other people -- it's like they never quite grow up.

I think the attractiveness of others is formed at a very early age. Perhaps some of it is hard wired at birth but I tend to think the specifics of attraction forms at a very early age. Why this is, I have no idea but as Mom said to Babe in the film of the same name, "It's the way things are." Big help, huh?
And on a final note, don't worry about what other people care about your preferences. It's your life and your choice and your voice in your head and hormones telling you, "Hey.... I like this one!".

I'm straight but if I were to engage in sex with a man I'm thinking I'd prefer a big ol' hairy guy to a boy type guy. But then as I understand it there are men that like boys so I guess it's all personal preference. My taste in a woman is different that my best friend's. He likes his women tall and skinny while I like mine short and voluptuous. Doesn't make either of us weird...just different.

because they don't fit into their idea of what is "correct" or attractive.

I am attracted to the same, and it is just not the stereotype of what the majority of the current trends are portraying. It doesn't make us weird. We just know what we like! Society doesn't hold us in bed at night, ya know?
