I am sort of paranoid about a woman "enjoying" it too much etc. I don't have kids yet - maybe then I'd rethink it... but my husband is not the only guy I've been with, and seriously I am more comfortable with a man being down there instead of a woman. What do you think? Which do you prefer?

I go to a man by the way - he's handsome and sweet (married with 3 kids) - plus he's foreign, like Chaldean or Persian or something. I find that weird because isn't the culture over there way obsessed with keeping women and men apart?

Wouldn't you think, however, that of the women gyno's, there is a larger percentage of lesbians? This is just a guess on my part --- but I guess I'm would just be worried about that larger proportion - "getting off" on seeing it....whereas I somehow trust men more with that....

I prefer myself to have a male probe my coochie when at the gyno yea just the thought of a woman going down there doesn't thrill me. My general MD and dentist are also male, I think as a female I have that instinct to not trust the female Dr.

I have had a man and a woman. Now I only see the man, he's foreign and it's kind of hard to understand but for some odd reason I feel really comfortable with him. He isn't creepy and just makes me feel alright. Good luck to you!

I have had both men and women. To me it doesn't make any difference except that being a woman, I think she would understand more. I think that to those kind of doctor's its just another job. You've seen one, you've seen them all. They all look the same. You can watch regular TV and see just about as much as a gyno exam. Especially cable.

I have always gone to a woman gyno.
I feel more comfortable with a woman. They are more understanding and empathic on women issues.
Trust me, a woman gyno does not enjoy it. They're in it to really help others. Male gynos are another story.
There have been instances of rape.
ADDED: Most women gynos are married with kids. All three of mine have been. I don't get your strange idea that women gynos are lesbian. My GP is male.

I will only go to a female doctor. I have used both and have found that women are way more gentle. They also can sympathize with you. Male doctors have no idea how it feels to cramp or any other menstrual problems. I feel much comfortable talking to a female about problems in that area.

you know its weird...1st of all i have had both male and female gyno. The female was rough with me, and didn't care what i had questions about, always made me feel stupid (i was pg with my daughter at the time) well my current obgyn delievered my daughter so he was with my son, and was so gental and caring. You would think since men don't have the equipment they would be rough but i think they are afraid to hurt the women...not sure but imo i think men are better at being obgyns

wow why would you think such an absurd thing? a person that is gay/lesbian is usually born like that. i've never been to a gno, and i would rather see a female doctor becuase it would be less ackward and plus all women deal with the same issues. plus men can be nasty and perverted so i prefer women doctors, but everyone is different.

i feel awkward with either. but i have a woman gynecologist. i've thought about having a man gyno but i would feel that that would be awkward for me. plus, all the guy gyno's in my town, o so i've heard, don't really do their job, one of them was sued for a misdiagnosis. but i love my gyno, she's good and highly recommended. everyone is different. if i heard exceptional things about a male gyno i would probably go see him. :D

I prefer a woman because she has to have the same exam herself, and is more understanding. Also I find it easier to communicate on personal issues with a woman, than I do with a man (unless he is my significant other).
Women also have similar experiences (perimenopause, periods, etc.) and have excellent advice in my opinion.

I honestly dont care if it is a man or woman. I care about their knowledge, the abilities and how comfortable they make me feel. (and if they warm the darn thing up!)
