Okay so here is the thing... me and my friend want our toungue pierced.But we are both kinda scared too.I need to know :will it hurt? if so how bad?Will i need my mom's signature on anything?And can I do it myself? I wanna do it myself but how do I do it myself? please help!!! thanks.

First of all, DO NOT do your tongue yourself!!!
Your tongue is full of nerves, and the reason the piercer will use a clamp is to mark off that nerve, and to clamp off the blood vessles. If you pierce it yourself, and you hit one of the veins in your tongue, you can bleed to death. If you hit the nerve, you can loose feeling in your face, and if you sever it completely, your face could be paralyzed for life.
Some places wont pierce anyone who is under 16, even with parental concent, but if you are over 16, then all you will need is your parent or guardian's permission and signature.
Getting your tongue pierced will hurt, I don't care what anyone tells you. Its a piece of metal being shoved through your tongue.
Make sure that you eat something atleast half an hour before getting it pierced, otherwise you could get a low blood sugar attack and pass out...And you'll probably be hungery afterwards. And its never fun trying to eat something with a freshly pierced tongue.
As far as aftercare goes, use mouth wash at night before you go to bed, and when you wake up, and no more than that. Ice water will be your best friend.
Not only will it help the swelling, but it will also clean the piercing itself. Just drink ice water with every meal, and it will be fine. You don't have to rinse with mouthwash after every time you eat.

there is a muscle in your tongue that if you pierce by accident it will permantly make your tounge limp. if you want to spend the rest of your life talking with a lisp then go ahead and pierce it yourself. It will hurt so be prepared. and yes you will need your moms signiture as well as her there.

As in pain, I would assume that there will be pain if there was a puncture in your tongue. I would believe u need consent on if you are a minor, and you shouldnt do it urself, because you might infect your tongue with uncleaned tools, etc.

I had mines done.
& i was freaked out first. but honestly it doesnt hurt as bad as u think. Mines didnt even bother me.
YEa if ur under 18 you have to her a rent sign and etc.
& dont try yourself cuz you get it infected or worse..

Don't do it by yourself, and make sure you ask for permission. It will not hurt as long as the right kind of piercer. Good Luck.

Seriously, I know sooo many people who had beautiful teeth until they got a tongue piercing. Just talking normally, you will chip your teeth... it is soooo not worth it!

don't do this yourself. DO YOUR RESEARCH!! find a good place to get it done. If you try to do it yourself, you might get an infection. You don't want that, do you? maybe you can do an internet search about piercings, i.e. forums and/or blogs, etc.
