I trust you meant to say "why is it that only a few people HAVE it?" You sound like our president.

It depends on what the subject is. Common sense is subjective at best. Some examples, is it common sense to put baby power on a baby after one changes a diaper, not if you haven't ever been shown how to change. What if it is 32 degrees outside when you wake up to go to work; common sense would be to wear a heavy coat or jacket, but if you live some place like Denver where the norm is for the weather to warm up to about 55 or 60 during the day common sense would be for you to layer your clothing so you can take layers off as the day progresses.

First, I will restructure the question and answer it at the same time. The correct question is not why few people has common sense, but why few people apply it. Now, the begging question is: "what is common sense?"
Common sense is the sense that is common to everybody but is not commonly applied. The operative word is application and not possession. Everybody has common sense--which is the five physical senses of sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell. However, only very few use it. This is because what is commonly believed (or known in this context) is commonly ignored as such is not commonly applied. This is why very few people use their God-given common-sense. It is always better to be aware than to be smart. You don't need to have the sixth sense; all you need to have is to develop new awareness in order to apply the common sense you already have.

Common sense is learned. If you have not been exposed to something, then you will not have "common sense" about it. For example, I was taught to say my grace before I ate anything, anywhere, at any time. So to me this is common sense (a common practice). However, if someone is not taught this practice, then it would not be common sense (a common practice) to them.
Who has the common sense in this example? It all depends on who is judging. The one who says grace or the one that doesn't.

What make common sense common is that so many people have it. Now exceptional sense is another story. Few people are exceptional. Genius is not common sense.

All people have common sense. It comes from the source. It's part of the whole. Only few are in tuned to it.

common sense is common, but you are wrong when you say few people have it. Everyone has it. But some people don't have any sense to use it.

Because only those of us who are passionately searching for truth, without any hidden negative personal agenda, and with only the highest and purist of all intention(unconditional love for ALL humanity) will be given access to what is the "common" sense, or "common" truth. EVERYTHING in the universe has a vibrational frequency. If you want to have access to something, then you have to be attuned to and alligned with its vibrational frequency. LOVE, without any condition, has the highest vibrational frequency of all. As well, the only real way to exude change in other people is be a model and example of that change, first within yourself and then towards and for other people. If everyone had the "common" information or "common" sense simply given to them, there would be no example or contextual positive difference to observe, learn from, or ground to.

great question! how true a statement. i've met people with degrees, high i.q.'s, but they have no common sense. maybe people just aren't so "common" any more. remember when our extended families lived nearby, or in our homes? well i think that the loss of family has contributed to the decline of common sense. if we all ran our decisions, ideas by a trusted family member or two before making a decision, maybe we would make different decisions. i think people don't have enough emotional support from families and true friends.
