I have had 3 children and am 5 months pregnant with my fourth one. My first pregnancy I was dilated for a week at 2-3 cm, but no contractions or anything and the doctor induced my labor so I wouldnt go into labor so far from the hospital. my second child i had very bad discomfort but not contractions for about 4 hours, my water did not break and the plug was still in there...then all of a sudden I had very fast and hard contractions and had the baby 30 minutes after getting to the hospital...my 3rd child I went to bed and woke up having to go pee and on my underwear was the mucus plug and bloody show was there. I went to the hospital and was 5 cm dilated a few hours later there he was. After your plug comes out "bloody show" you need to get your stuff and get to the hospital...it is time ,you are in labor. even if your contractions are far and few between you might go through what I did...have little pain then all of a sudden have really fast and hard contractions. ps.......my water never broke naturally in all 3 births.....ps.....I didnt have time for pain medications...but what kept me almost sane was telling myself that women do this everyday and i can do it too because I am a woman, i am a mother...sounds sappy but its worked

If you've lost your mucus plug it's not going to be long. If you want to speed up the contractions try power walking. I power walked around the mall at 4 cm and got to the hospital and was 6-7 cm. with an epidural coming. Hoping for a short labor and a healthy baby!! Congrats.

What did your dr say? I take it your water hasn't broken. Babe, you are not far away so keep close to home with someone there with you. If your anything like me I am sure you want that baby out already to try taking a nice relaxing bath with warm water. Drink some ice water while your in the bath too. I don't know why but this combo worked with a couple of my friends. Also try to keep track of the babies movements and let your dr know if you go a long time without feeling the baby move. It wont be long now! Good luck. P.S. I'm gonna bet you will be having this baby in the next 24 hrs or so. :)

also i have done nothing but walk and have sex and its my third and hes still not gettin any closer to gettin out lol. all that stuff only works if teh conditions are right and while they should be since were already dilated it doesnt mena it will help

If this is your first pregnancy, you probably have a couple weeks still left to go. I was 3cm dialated and 80% effaced for 3 weeks with my 1st pregnancy. If contractions are few and far between, you are having braxton hicks. but you are getting there... but just probably not tomorow!

Usually losing the plug means that it'll be soon, but not always. Call your doctor or midwife if you get worried and hang in there! I went to the hospital twice for false labor with my first. If you start getting painful, regular contractions, then you're truly in labor.
Good luck!!!

From all you're describing, you're in hard paintings. Timed contractions 3 to 5 minutes aside are a stable sign. additionally, the bloody coach is very indicative that hard paintings has started. in view that it is your 0.33 newborn, your hard paintings may well be progressing rapidly. If the timed, favourite contractions stop, i might nevertheless stay in close touch with your midwife. stable success!

It always seems as if it will be forever.... But truth is, its right around the corner. Anytime in the next day to two weeks. I know scary thought. Once it comes it will be gone. So will those first few days with your new baby. Try to think about and maybe even write what you want in those first few days. How you imagine it. How you think your baby will look. This will make it easier while you wait and give you something to remember with.
