They do its called charities, and foundations, and they give ideas to the goverment on how to fix the ecomony, but the goverment in some countries is set up like a crime gang giving favors, and welting out punishment. There realative poor which means in Untied States you own a AC, TV, Computer, DVD player, Cable, and there is absolute no water, malnurishoed, lack of food, lack of education, lack of santation 3rd world. We should be trying to get out people out of living 3rd world poverty. Well Liberals in
West say the wage gap is growing. YES, but the poor in the Deveopled nations are not worse off just there wages have stayed the same as 30 years ago while the top 5% wages have beat inflation. Look at 3rd world style poverty, not ""NOT REALATIVE POVERTY WE SEE IN AMERICA""

The only way anyone can become a millionaire / billionaire is to produce something that makes everyone else's lives better. If they had spent their time worrying about other people's money , they would probably be poor just like you.
Imagine how many people's standard of living could be improved if wealth envy did not exist and people actually spent time improving themselves instead of condemning others.

I like you Funk and I don't believe you are suggesting communism. As it's just that. A suggestion aimed at the people you are speaking of. Not a radical change in government. Also the Cold war ended a long time ago. Russian "commies" aren't likely to attack anytime soon. But also I am not one for generalisations, I'm sure not every rich person in the world is a corporate sociopath. @Blair. Also as for working hard for their money. How many people in our societies would sell a kidney to feed their family or better their financial position then go and work for a whole day in terrible conditions to get what we get in 1 hour? Do you think all poor people are bums? I've seen people in Indonesia stirring bitumen in a drum bear foot with a fire underneath. In our societies we have a truck that pours bitumen. That's just one example of cheap exploited labour replacing machinery. You need to wake up Blair. really and no one said anyone had to do anything. Not everyone has to have morals or the same set of morals. @Steve C We are talking about the world. There is no welfare in developing countries. If you don't work the government is not going to help you, it may be hard for you to imagine. Most of the homeless in our first world countries have a mental disorder of some kind which makes it difficult for them to fill out forms so they can get of the street. In developing nations there is no real choice to work or not to. People will work in the most horrible conditions to survive. No one suggested giving money to people on welfare, that is just retarded.

Because forced giving of assets derived from good decisions, sacrifice and hard work discourages people to sacrifice, struggle, make good decisions and achieve for themselves.
If Bill Gates knew that as soon as he became rich he would be forced to give most of his money away he never would have created Microsoft or worked hard to learn the things that have made him a success. If I knew I had to give away MORE of my money to people who didn't earn it, I'd quit in a heart beat and become a teacher. I'm for the Fair Tax!

I hear you loud and clear, but they work for their money just like we do and probably don't want to just "give" it away any more than we do. Most of them do donate millions a year (especially the gates'), of couse it's most likely a tax write off for them. But in a nice dream it would be a great thing wouldn't it?

Maybe they are asking why some people don't get off their lazy a - -'s and take advantage of the opportunities to better themselves, instead of sitting on their duffs whining for handouts.
Perhaps you should consider communism, as you will be taken care of by the state.

Interesting idea. Ok, let's do it, you go first.
Actually, even if we could get everyone to do this, they would get all of it back within a year. But first, the money will go to the drug dealers and prostitutes on route back to Gates and company. Then, we'd still have rich multimillionaires but an increase in illegal activity. Sad but true.

Because most insanely rich people are so detached from reality they can convince themselves that they have no obligation to their fellow man. To be honest, most people who come from modest backgrounds being instantly rich would be more concerned with how to keep their money rather than how to give it away. And since they probably had to do some less than charitable things to get their money in the first place they have no desire to. Most look at poor people the same way that we look at the homeless generally speaking. "If I'm not too busy or it doesn't cost too much of me, I wouldn't mind helping them."

Bill Gates and his wife Belinda have given Billions to different things. They didn't have to, but they are decent people.
