All Hallows Eve: Lovely holiday!! We ... our family...has a silent dinner. In this we honour our dead. We light candles for them, lay their picture out, and even lay a place setting for them. It is a beautiful ritual that our family looks forward to every year.

My husband and I have Halloween dinner. We make a big dinner and eat by candle light. While listening to scary stories like the old radio drama versions of Dracula and the likes.

We also always buy donuts for Halloween. When I was a kid you bought a dozen donuts and got a pumpkin free. Eventually they stopped the pumpkin giveaways but we kept up the donuts. It's our weird little family thing.

pumpkin painting. I have a couple of good books that have great ideas for decorating pumpkins without carving them, so they last all thru the season instead of rotting in a few days. I like to dress mine up like characters and add hats and other accessories.
