I had a thought recently that is sociopaths dont have a soul or even have feelings...does that mean that our personality or soul is actually the presence of certain chemicals when we are formed? So basically its all chemistry not divination?

The soul hasn't yet been proven to physically exist. However, since every function and emotion of the body is controlled by chemicals and electrical impulses, it could be theorized that any condition known to man is curable if the right medicine is found.

The answer is YES......... The soul does exist. It exists in many different forms. For instance there's "soul food". I know and can prove my shoes have "soles". I have eaten "fillet of sole". And I know of a restaurant in Leitrim Ireland named "Fillet of Soul". So yes the soul/sole does indeed exist. But I don't think that the "sole" purpose of your question has been completely answered. So lets get to the "soul" of the matter. Chemical imbalance's do change the emotional health of a creature. Sometimes to the point that a creature may become a danger to itself or to other creatures.( Such as Rabies ) Humans that give the appearance of being without emotion or compassion may in fact have both. They may just choose to detach or block those qualities when their desire to commit an act gives cause for them to do so. Even then they have to convince themselves that they have just cause and a reason for doing some act of violence. Much like soldiers in a battlefield have to "turn off" emotion in order to function. They also have to feel justified in what they do.( A sure way to get a rise from a soldier is to tell him he's killing innocent people.) Some sociopaths may also be people who have brain damage of another sort. Being a sociopath really doesn't have anything to do with having, or not having a soul. To someone who wishes to believe that a soul exists, I'm sure that they could come up with at least a half-dozen rebuttals for your claim that it's all just chemistry. Some thing like "Well....... I guess we're all just Gods test tubes then aren't we?" Which of course would prove absolutely nothing. Some people just choose to have faith in such things. I can't say that I do personally, but it makes life much simpler for them. They don't have to search for answers.

i dont think you should do your "soul searching" on yahoo questions but im going to take the agnostic answer saying nothing can be completely known of god or his/her creations or nature but no there is not chemical equivelent to a soul sociopaths just are extemely lonely, sad, tramatized, etc etc physcological things

Soul is creative
Body has volume
Soul has No volume
Body ages with time
Soul exists only in now, and watches time go by.
I may be wrong, it might be different. The thought that there are no spirits, is scary.
Consider this, if there is no soul, how can you sit there inside your head, and watch time go by. How can you create your thoughts, listen to your thoughts, and see pictures with your "mind's eye". How can you see mental pictures inside your head, with your eyes closed? There is no physical "mind's eye". Yet you do. There are no mental "ears" either, yet you can "hear" your own thoughts.
