I think that separation from someone you were very close to would result in some type of "withdrawal" symptoms. But like most of those situations, you eventually get over it.
Your reactions to the "shut out" are based on your personal feelings, the time invested, your expectations, and your own individual personality. Some people react differently to break ups. Some throw up, lose sleep, immediately get involved with someone else, or just move on like it never happened.
I don't think addicted is the right word. More like strongly attached.

I think it's called an obsession... if it includes stalking OR it can have become just a habit... I recently quit speaking to a friend and the first couple of weeks were weird... it got better with time and I also had dreams... hope this helps...
