Your soul lives on, even though your body dies. Our souls are eternal, and will go to a place many people call or know of as heaven. It is a peaceful place where you are joined with loved ones. We write our charts for our next life, if we choose to come back. Our soul goes home after this lifetime on earth. I guess some people call it heaven, but it is really our home, this is not home, this is a temporary place where we try to perfect our lives and help others. I had a dream one night, that I was reunited with my parents in a peaceful beautiful place that you were totally content, and had no fears, or problems of any kind, you just felt so good, and you could communnicate without even talking, they told me that you could stay there for ever, and that it was always that wonderful, I said I loved it there, but had to go, or my family would miss me, but when I woke up, I knew I had really been in a place that was special, IT really was HOME!

irebab: The immortal soul concept has its roots in many cultures. The idea of people having a soul dates back, as far as, the Egyptians, thousands of years ago. This soul myth was created by the then, governing authorities i.e. priests, as a means to have sway over the people so they could be controlled. The Greeks also, played with this concept and similarly used "soul" to hold control for order over the people. The word "soul" initially, was used in the world's most sold book ever, the Holy Bible, to describe the first man Adam at creation. The word "soul" comes from the original Hebrew writings rendered "nephesh", which translates " breath" or "a living being", which, as you know, a living being can die. So; the immortal soul concept holds no water when it is applied to a person after death. To the point; when you die, as YOU being human are a living soul, therefore, you die you are dead. You go into the grave or cremated. Take the time to research "immortal soul" and the "hell" concepts and you will be amazed at the outcome. By the way, the Holy Bible states, "the soul that sins, it shall die". No mention of immortality here. Your soul is your body and your body is your soul - one and the same.

Well of course it depends on you religious beliefs
The question of what happens after a person dies is a concern of many people, especially as they reach old age. One would like to think there is some sort of existence after the death of the physical body. Those who believe that humans have a spiritual aspect or possess a soul also believe that the spirit continues to exist after the death of the physical body.
Depending on the person's religion, some believe that the soul goes to Heaven (or to Hell, for bad people), while others believe that the soul or spirit is reincarnated into another person or even an animal. Those who do not believe a person has a soul usually believe that once you are dead there is no other existence.
Believing in some sort of existence after death can be comforting. Examination of the various beliefs can help you make up your mind about this issue.

If you take the Christian standpoint, then your soul will go and join God in heavon, If you are Jewish, you need to be a good person to do this. If you follow islam then you need to follow the teachings of Muhammad (correct me if I am wrong) to achieve this. Buddhists believe that you need to follow the Seven paths (number may be wrong, I think it may be four), be reincarnated a few times and then you assend to the Buddha, and you join Brahma in an afterlife of pure extacy. If you follow the belief of Atheism, you believe that you die. That is about it. There are other religious beliefs, but these are all the ones I know. Now it is up to you to pick which belief you want to follow.
Many people that will answer are probably christians and will tell you that the only way for your soul to be saved is to believe in jesus. You need to make your own spiritual decision that is not influenced by peer pressure. Even christians were the minority at one point.

If you have been a good person, lived a good life and known and shared love with others, your soul will be the sum total of who you are. Nothing ever stays the same, it either gets better, or it gets worse.
According to the good book, you will be judged by your actions and a regressing soul may end up as promised, by spending eternity in the eternal lake of fire where it will join all other evil and demonic entities. That is a hell of a way to spend eternity, wouldn't you say.

I think it is human arrogance to assume that mortal man is special. If we want to believe that there is a God, then we must understand that this force is spirit, seperated from the physical man, who wants to be like the image and likeness God created first.
Man, according to the myth in Genesis (first chapter), was created in the image and likeness of God. But what man? It is not man who is made up of brain, blood and bones, to be sure. But it is the very man who is Idea. It is Idea (Man) who is perfect, indestructable. If you read Genesis (Chapters 1 and 2) fully you will see that there were two creations of man. The first creation of man was Idea, made in the image and likeness of the Creator. The second creation of man started this way ... "Then there went a mist up from the land; and God created man from the dust of the earth, etc. etc.
Two creations. The first creation can never fall prey to sin, sickness, disease or even death. Why? because idea is always held perfect in thought.
Mortal man, however, is another story. He is always striving for immortality. He will never find it, save through stories of his deeds told to others by other men.
So the question is irrelevent really when you look at it. What does it matter to the first creation of Man when he never dies. To the second creation, it is striving to be like the first, immortal, perfect, pure, without blemish. But mortal man will always fall short. Mortal man has created heaven, hell, souls and the like to try and find a place for himself in the realm of the gods.
We have no business there. In my opinion.

The connection between your soul, which dwells in another dimension, and your physical body is broken. Your soul then "awakens" with full recall and full cognizance of it's circumstance. If your soul has accomplished the task put before it, then you will ascend to higher form of life for your next incarnation. Otherwise, you will then be sent back here, in another time and identity to do it all over again. This repeats until you get it right.

I believe that your soul will either go to heaven or to hell. Depends on whether you have accepted Jesus as your Savior or not.
