I left my window open during a storm. The floor got an inch or so of standing water in it. I cleared out the water with a cup and towels and newspaper. But it still stinks.

The only way you're going to be able to get rid of it is to actually take up the carpet, and clean the floorboards with bleach-water.

While the carpets are out, you may be able to salvage them with a good steam cleaner (rent a RugDoctor), and make sure they're THOROUGHLY dry before placing them back into place. Otherwise, you're just going to grow more mold.

Take the car to an auto upholstery shop and have them remove the carpet and the liner underneath. This will remove majority of problem. If you explain to them why you want it replaced, they have certain chemicals that clean and are used for mold control. Not only that, but it is professionaly done so it looks good.

I think you will need to replace the carpet. Sometimes the mold spores become attached to the actual fibers and are extremely difficult to be removed.

I use bleach to knock down mold. I am not sure if color safe bleach would work the same. It is something to look into.
