What should I do about this woman at work?

I work with this woman, i'm actually HER boss, she is constantly on an ego trip and takes every opportunity to make my life miserable. It hasn't been too bad but now all of a sudden she's cracked again, and this time its bad. She's talking s*** about me to co-workers and i've had it, i know this because ppl have come up to me and said, wow, whats going on between you and ____. I've tried talking to her, ask her what her problem is, she just gets more ticked off and it doesn't work. I can't really do too much because she does her job, perfectly actually, and I can't get her fired for talking...what should I do?

Yes you can fire her! I did it to a girl who had a personality conflict with me. We did well working in our respective jobs but she back stabbed me to everyone in the area. It's called causing unnecessary conflict with co-workers. She has a problem she can take it to the bar and abuse me, but not at work. Fire her, because when she gets done with you she will move on to someone else who doesn't deserve it. People like that thrive on conflict.

Be as kind and positive as you can that way you can make it clear to co-workers she is the one with the problem and doesn't give her any negative things to say about you.

I wish there was some way I could help. the only think I can say is keep looking for her to mess up and use it agenst her. Maby she will get tired of acting this way and move on her self.I wouldn't let her get to you, it is not worth it in the long run.
