There is a research paper about the potato famine in my humanities class and all I have to do left is the thesis statement, which is what I horrible at. I know what a thesis statement has and all, but I cannot seem to round up all the ideas together. It takes me one hour to have a O.K. thesis statement. I am not kidding. Thesis statements are my worst enemies. Somebody please tell me what you do to for steps to a fantastic thesis statement. Maybe I could try it. Please do not give me vague advice.

Do all your research, then write the paper (more pages than you'll need).... then create a thesis statement that sums up your research clearly and consiseley after the paper is written. At that point you start revising to make the research paper clear and logical in relation to your thesis statement.

Erm, if you don't want vague advice, you shouldn't ask a vague question.
It's hard to give any specific help to you when I don't know what point you are making about the potato famine in your paper.
Having said that, I would suggest that you basically take your conclusion and one of the arguments against it (one that you address and disprove in your paper) and say something like:
"Although such theories as [argument against conclusion] have been proposed, the evidence that the potato famine was [your conclusion] is the more compelling.
'course, I partied my way right out the university doors, so consider the source.

Write down in another piece of paper...: "I will prove that" then write what you will prove in your paper. The thing is that on the paper you need to turn in you will never write "I will prove that" it just sounds wrong so just think of it and write it down.
