I found this leak a couple months ago thinking the trunk was left open by accident. It has happened more recently with number of storms and heavy downpours we've had. The water sits with the spare tire leaving no easy way to remove it. And the smell is terrible even on the inside of the car. PLEASE HELP

It's either leaking from the rear window or the rubber gasket around the trunk, get in the trunk and close it and have someone take a hose and spray water all around the back glass and trunk area while you use a flashlight to look where the water is coming in at.

It's a Ford...what do you expect? Fords are famous for having problems, defects, and being unreliable. Every Ford owner I've ever known has had tons of problems. My wife's 7 year old Mercury (which are made by Ford) has more problems than my Nissan, which is 17 years old!
Anyhow, I know this probably isn't something you want to hear but I'd just sell the damn thing and try to get a car that's not a piece of crap. If you insist on keeping it, get the seal around the trunk and/or rear window fixed. Otherwise you'll get mold and mildew which is disgusting, reeks, and can be harmful to your health (breathing in mold spores is BAD).

Baking soda for the smell. I get a new stang every 3 years, the best. Good thing the leak is in the trunk. Better than a leak in the gasoline tank or one of your hoses. Think about it. Febreze the trunk, take out the carpet and lining, replace with new carpet. Buy a piece of any carpet from Wal-mart and use old carpet as sample to cut out new carpet, replace and put a box of baking soda for the smell weld or use liquid nail on apparent hole.Do what you must, for the sake of the stang. It's almost a decade old, it's good nothing else is wrong with it. Maybe for its 10th birthday, you can get a paint job, keep it nice. Trade it in for a 2007 Mustang GT.
Stang crazy.
God bless us all...

i own a repair shop, and just about every one i have seen leaks a little on the trunk, its the rubber seal that goes around the trunk lid that does it,it just gets flat after a few years of use on it,and all you can do is replace it,and that will stop it for a few more years,,i have replaced a lot of them and they all look good but that is where it is coming from,,take the bottom drain plug out to let all the old water drain out of it,and replace the rubber and it will be fine,,good luck i hope this help,s.
