i have a ferret, about 1 year old, hes small, and kind of skinny, u feel ihis ribs slightly, and his 2 hip bones, im scared hes too skinny, how can i get him to gainb some weight? is there some special food i can give him? i see other ferrets that are fat!i wish he was chubby! please help!

i leave food out all day for him- he eats wenever he wants

Make sure your ferret doesn't have an obstruction in his stomach or intestines...they can very easily die from that.
If he is just a tiny one , here is a site that has a recipie which I fed my ferrets when they were sick.involves a little work , but it makes them gain weight in no time....good luck

Ferrets are like people, they come in all shapes and sizes. Males are usually twice the size of females, so there may be something going on with yours.
You can give him all the food in the world, if he won't eat it it won't put the weight on him.
What do his poops look like? Are they formed and brown or loose?
I had a ferret that ate like a little piggy but had a bowel disease that kept his body from absorbing the nutrients and he basically just pooped them back out. He had ECE, but some get IBD. Ferrets can get worms too.
Have you had him at the vets lately for his shots? You can ask your vet to worm your fert just in case and see if that takes care of it.
Long story short, you will end up going to the vet with your little fuzzy.

I think he has worms. Dogs and cats get them, so a Ferret should be at risk as well. If he eats alot, but never gains weight it is a sure sign. Take him to your vet and get some medicicen.
