Diamonds:
Diamonds alone can be cleaned with any cleaner.
Emeralds:
Avoid sudden temperature changes, chemicals and ultrasonic. A litte soap and water works beautifully.

Go to Wal-Mart and for $3.00 you can buy Connoisseurs Jewelry Cleaner. They have like 3 formulas. One is for silver and another for delicate jewelry. Read the back and make sure it's made for your jewelry. This stuff works great, I use it for my gold jewelry and gemstones, diamonds, etc. It is just an 8 oz red plastic jar in the jewelry section.
It comes with the Goodhouskeeping Guarantee too.
Emerald Care:
Emerald (Beryl) Use extreme care. Usually filled with oil or resins that might be removed with cleaning. (Fillings can be restored.) Do not boil or ultrasonic. Rinse, brush & Water-Pik with warm, soapy water.

get a small pot and add dishwashing liquid. Dilute it slightly with water, and then turn the heat on. Place jewelry in the pot and bring to a boil. Let the jewelry boil for a bit, then remove. Brush the jewelry with an old toothbrush. The jewelry will shine as bright as ever.

If the jewlery has both stones in it you cannot clean with a sonic cleaner , If you wash them in light soap and water. the emeralds will need to be reoiled after that is how they keep their shine. Most jewelers will clean you jewlery free or a small fee. see the link below for mor accurate info..
