The BCS is still around because of all the money it generates. Also, the reason its still around is because the majority of the 1A schools are part of it. I may sound a bit biased here since I go to USF and its a Big East school, but that's the reason why the BE would never be kicked out of the BCS. They'd have to find another conference so the majority of schools can be in it.
Many people still say that a playoff should be in place, but the playoff would take way too long and football would be going on way after january.
We haven't really had many problems with the BCS this year or last year. Last problem was when Auburn couldn't go to a NC game and they were undefeated. It won't be a problem this year. Besides, it's not only computers that decide he BCS, there's also the coaches and Harris poll that have imput on it.

A playoff would be a great thing for Div 1A football since all the other divisions have a playoff in place. Football wouldnt go way past January as was previously stated either most seasons end in November or early December a week layoff and let the games beging with the 4 big bowls being used for quarter, and semi finals and still have the championship game a week later.
The BCS is a money maker for conferences, not only BCS bowls but all the other bowls out there. Conferences dont want to give up that money, and neither does Notre Dame as they keep all of the money they get from a bowl appearance. Thats the reality of the game its not what we want the most, its what benefits the schools and the athletes by having so many bowl games. So thats how it will stay with the BCS which is a steaming pile of horse manure, and the minor bowls. I think its something like 48 or 54 teams from Div 1A go to post season bowls a playoff wouldnt include that many.

Why the BCS is still around who knows? I thing the overwhelming majority of people wan t to see a playoff system, but obviously money talks so I'm guessing there is more money in the BCS system.

No, it's as good as we will get without a playoff, which will almost assuredly never happen because of the economics behind major college football

The BCS is a joke, but it's making big money for enough of the major schools(and the NCAA bloodsuckers) that I think it's here to stay.(No matter what the fans may want)

BCS is a joke from its creation but human polling is even worst saying who goes in for the National Championship. I agree with you but seeding is very flawed from the start
