My friend has a cr( )ppy phone and his contract is up in a year... Can he get a new phone from Verizon right now and not have to pay the upgrade charge?

he can get a new phone from verizon, but he has to pay full price of the phone. what i did when i wanted a new phone in the middle of my contract was i bought a phone off of ebay that was compatible with verizon, then take it into a store and have them activate it. hope this helps :)

Unfortunately, no. Well you can, but you have to pay full price for the new phone if you're still on contract. I waited my last few months to get myself a new phone when I re-upped with Verizon. It was worth the wait. Instead of $300, it cost me $20 by waiting, and I have a really nice phone now!

He can go online and see how much his phone will cost him if he switches now. My mom looked yesterday at ours and hers expires in July I think but if she does it now she will have to pay for her phone. So my assumption is that he will have to pay. See if he can take his phone to Verizon and see if they can give him a new one the one he has. Or if maybe he can get a discount with a new phone. Good Luck!!!

yes but I think there should be some kind of a penalty. Like $50 or something like that.
