If you arrange the equation so that it is solved for y (y=ax+b), then a is the slope and b is the y-intercept. For an x-intercept, just make y = 0 and solve for x. The answer is the x-intercept.

x intercept: make y=0: 2x-5(0)+10=0 ==> 2x = -10 ==> x = -5 y intercept: make x=0: 2(0)-5y+10=0 ==> -5y = -10 ==> x = 2 slope: get 2 factors and then discover m = (y2-y1) / (x2-x1)... we already have the factors (-5, 0) and (0, 2) so: m = (2 - 0) / (0 - (-5)) = 2 / 5 = 0.4 for the graph, i'll put in the type y = mx+b : 2x-3y+12=0 ==> -3y = -2x-12 ==> 3y = 2x+12 ==> y = 2/3x+4 from that, all of us understand is a right away line via fact that we've x to the 1st skill... then we in basic terms want 2 factors and we draw a line that crosses them... we can get the factors (0,4) and (0, -6) (intercepts)... then in basic terms discover the factors and draw the line... wish that facilitates...

It's really easy actually. I am a junior and i went throught the same problem. If u go to google and type "Slope" or "Alegbra equations" - u will get a bunch of websites that will teach u stuff step-by-step. I would also suggest reading your math textbook first - since that is where everything is.

It's hard to explain without having problems to point out the different elements. I'd be glad to help you, but you need to email me some problems.
